I'm going to give the GOP some major credit, they really learned their lesson from 2021. They are really organized this time around to ensure that their coup d'état succeeds this time.

Behind the veil of criminally incompetent figureheads and spokesmen you can name are extremely intelligent psychopaths and sociopaths, backed by tens of thousands of amoral everyday professionals, far removed from the implication of them "just following orders"; grinding in the rat-race for their paycheck.

I'm talking about data scientists and engineers — operating essentially as intelligence operatives — waging psychological warfare using the data aggregated by surveillance capitalism, and disseminated via big tech (fb, insta, tiktok, reddit, etc) and fascist state media platforms (fash news, sinclair/nexstar, newsmax, oann, twitter, etc)...

I'm talking about teams of lobbyists, "think tanks", lawyers, marketers, strategists, etc architecting all their plans behind closed doors, ghost writing all their legislation, etc.

I'm talking about the financial backing of ruthless authoritarian megalomaniac capitalists; the oligarchs (Murdoch, Ailes, Koch's, Prager, Putin; plus thousands of others you've never even heard of) and corporations they own.

The above is why fascism is winning. Trump, Miller — the entire nazi party — couldn't have achieved any of this without the for-profit expertise of propaganda networks (media/SM), surveillance capitalism (SM/ad-tech), and secret police (aka "intelligence" orgs = Mossad/NSA/CIA/MI5) that these oligarchs have been constructing for longer than most of us have been alive.

Evil adapts when good stagnates.

I'm excited to see this memory-holed after the next election, when Democrats need to blame LGBTQ and Palestine activists for their next big defeat.

We're already seeing Midwestern MAGA Dems like Slotkin and McGrath lining up these excuses.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Well not that shocked.

YOU CAN CHECK YOUR VOTES TO MAKE SURE THESE DISGUSTING CHEATING FUCKS HAVEN'T TAMPERED WITH WHAT YOU CHOSE.

DO SO, AND DO SO OFTEN.

You are a completely clueless. They can show you whatever they want on that screen. In the backend, they can just invent themselves votes.

Yeah, I'm confused by this as well. I know about ballotrax, but that just records that your vote was received.

I don't believe any federal system records how you voted.

In WA votes are anonymous so you can only see if your ballot was received and accepted. But we do have paper ballots and random batch audits, so we can verify the numbers match the ballots in the processing room.

WA, and most states have election observer programs, contact your local election office to find out how to go watch.

This was the obvious next move. It pisses me off that Biden did nothing to ensure fair and secure elections

So this is the way that Trump gets a third term?

[–] DrDickHandler@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Republicans are set to be in power for decades to come. Whether it's Trump or not, those are small details.

If elections are off the table, everything is off the table.
