Rules

While we are not an official Mozilla community, we have adopted the Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines as far as it can be applied to a bin.

Rules

  1. Always be civil and respectful
Don't be toxic, hostile, or a troll, especially towards Mozilla employees. This includes gratuitous use of profanity.

  2. Don't be a bigot
No form of bigotry will be tolerated.

  3. Don't post security compromising suggestions
If you do, include an obvious and clear warning.

  4. Don't post conspiracy theories
Especially ones about nefarious intentions or funding. If you're concerned: Ask. Please don’t fuel conspiracy thinking here. Don’t try to spread FUD, especially against reliable privacy-enhancing software. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Show credible sources.

  5. Don't accuse others of shilling
Send honest concerns to the moderators and/or admins, and we will investigate.

  6. Do not remove your help posts after they receive replies
Half the point of asking questions in a public sub is so that everyone can benefit from the answers—which is impossible if you go deleting everything behind yourself once you've gotten yours.

Why the fuck did they buy it in they weren't going to stick with it?

Damn, that's my way of syncing articles to my Kobo e-reader. I wonder if Kobo is going to offer an alternative.

I have a feeling that was pre Mozilla pocket offering a deal to kobo.

But hopefully I'm wrong and rakuten kobo will integrate with another service.

Yes, I think that partnership started pre-mozilla.

Pairing a read-this-article-later service with an e-ink device is the most logical combo, and the only reason I use something like Pocket.

I do hope Rakuten can find an alternative.

Another service that I’ve relied on for years going away. Ffs.

Time to look into alternatives.

I've been self-hosting Wallabag (@wallabag@fosstodon.org), happily, for years...but they offer an inexpensive hosted service if you don't want to go to the trouble:

@TechDesk@flipboard.social @moznews@mastodon.social So many people hated on it continuously, I'm surprised it was kept around for so long.

Shame, but I'll admit I mostly stopped bothering, too. I just no longer collect stuff to read it later like tht.

@TechDesk@flipboard.social @moznews@mastodon.social We don’t have time for Pocket, a service loved by many for years, because we’re too busy building AI “features” that only tech bros want. Yup. That makes sense. 🙄
