I have an antivax coworker who also hates illegal immigrants ... because they're unvaccinated. Yes of course she voted for drumpf.

[–] Fiery@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 5 days ago

To be fair, that's on the saner side on the scale of antivaxers. As in if you don't want to put "very dangerous unknown substances" into your body but still be safe you need as many vaccinated people as possible.

Their capacity for doublethink is like a fever dream huffing mercury vapor.

That's exactly what they sound like.

Took the batteries out of the carbon monoxide alarm because the loud beeping was giving me a headache and making me feel sick and dizzy.

You could probably show this to an antivaxxer and he wouldn't get it

I had my first shingles vaccine a little bit ago, will get my second shot next month. I am pretty tough and get vaccinated whenever I can or should, and never feel much other than a bit tired, but the shingles vaccine kicked my ass for about a week. But I'll still get the second shot next month because nothing is more painful than shingles, I'm told, and you can get them in your EYES.

Found out I also qualify for the RSV vaccine so I'll go get that this weekend as well as my 10th COVID shot, and a little later in the summer the pneumococcal vaccine, and I got a measles titer yesterday to see if I need that updated too. Y'all delulu antivaxxers aren't going to kill me.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I got shingles in my eye, forehead, and scalp.

It. Was. Agony.

Luckily I didn’t lose vision in the eye, but it did swell shut for a day or so. Overall the pain lasted about 10 days and the red itchy blisters about a month.

I advise everyone to get the vaccine.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It is ABSOLUTE agony. Painful on the degree that birth is. My friend says her dad has broken a million bones and had cancer, and still says shingles is the worst pain he's felt.

Except it's their kids who are impacted are the ones we feel bad for, not them. (and I know their own kids could be considered as part of a Darwin award through a strict interpretation, but I'd rather not.)

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If they have kids that survive, they are ineligible for a Darwin. The award is about ending their line in a stupid way, not just dying.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

which is why if they take their kids with them, they technically should be eligible again.

This is why anti-vaxxers sounds like.

[–] Apepollo11@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Antivaxxer "beep beep beep beep"

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (4 children)

This screencap is old, right? The UI looks different, and there are no checkmarks or engagement metrics.

Hence the context is very different, as this is back when being antivaxx was unfashionable (and not a political signal like it is today).

[–] klugerama@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

the date is literally right there in the screenshot

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Oof.

I blame the… jpeg jaggies?

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 16 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Lmao no idea what that's even from and you're over here analyzing it like true detective while missing the obvious date stamp on it.
