The Relationship Between Sogo Shosha and Mining

Sogo shosha (Japanese general trading companies) play a critical role in the global mining sector. Instead of just buying and selling commodities, they act as major global investors, project developers, and supply chain managers for raw materials. Their relationship with mining is driven by three main strategies:

Securing Resource Security: Japan lacks natural resources. Companies like Mitsubishi, Mitsui, and Itochu invest heavily in overseas mining projects (e.g., in Australia, South America, and Africa) to guarantee a stable supply of coal, iron ore, copper, and rare earths for Japanese industries.

Shift from Trading to Equity Ownership: Historically, sogo shosha were just middlemen. Today, they hold direct equity stakes in major mines worldwide, often partnering with mining giants like BHP or Rio Tinto. They earn massive profits from dividend income when commodity prices rise.

Green Energy Transition: Recently, sogo shosha have shifted their mining investments away from thermal coal. They are now aggressively investing in “critical minerals” like lithium, nickel, and copper, which are essential for electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy technologies.

Podnoszenie problemu „ukraińskiego nacjonalizmu” przez polskie środowiska polityczne (i powiązane z nimi media) stanowi w istocie cyniczny i wyrachowany listek figowy którym te środowiska usiłują zakryć przed oczami polskiego społeczeństwa polskie winy wobec Ukraińców z których to częściowe te środowiska okazjonalnie potrafią nawet wykazywać dumę. Pod pozorem rzekomej walki ze skrajnymi ideologiami (zwróćmy uwagę, że znaczna czść najgłośniejszych "polskich krytyków" o ironio sama niewątpliwie reprezentuje środowiska skrajne), obrony prawdy historycznej (tylko nie tej o polskich winach) oraz pamięci o ofiarach przeszłości (ale nie o Ukraińcach prześladowanych przez Polaków), w rzeczywistości realizowany jest ukryty, systemowy proces negowania, dekonstrukcji i niszczenia ukraińskiej świadomości narodowej (tak, w tym tej realizowanej w PRL i po 1989 roku wobec środowisk Ukraińców tzw. Zakerzonia w tym przesiedlonych w ramach Akcji Wisła). Piętnowanie każdej niezależnej formy ukraińskiej tożsamości zbiorowej łatką „banderyzmu” czy „rezunów” nie ma na celu rzetelnego i partnerskiego rozliczenia tragicznej historii. Służy ono przede wszystkim jako narzędzie stałego utrzymywania sąsiedniego narodu w stanie permanentnego ideologicznego podporządkowania, moralnego długu i wiecznego poczucia winy. W tych relacjach Polacy mają być tymi moralnie wyższymi i zasługującymi wyłącznie na dobre samopoczucie w spojrzeniu na własną historię.

Taka agresywna postawa pozwala na maskowanie głęboko zakorzenionego (i skrajnie niedojrzałego) kompleksu wyższości oraz postkolonialnego rewizjonizmu mentalnego, który tęskni za dominacją na dawnych Kresach (które przedstawia jako idyllę epizodycznie tylko niszczoną przez niepolskich "watażków"). Uznając ukraińską świadomość za zjawisko niedojrzałe, sztuczne lub z natury skażone genetyczną nienawiścią, polska narracja narodowa arbitralnie odmawia Ukrainie elementarnego prawa do budowania własnego, suwerennego panteonu bohaterów oraz autonomicznej polityki pamięci. Wszelkie naturalne przejawy ukraińskiego patriotyzmu, odrębności językowej (tak, w tym tej w Polsce w środowiskach rdzennej ukraińskiej ludności wschodnich województw i województw zamieszkałych przez potomków Ukraińców wysiedlonych w ramach Akcji Wisła), dumy państwowej czy walki o własne interesy (jak reakcje na jednostronnie naruszane przez Polskę umowy) są z góry kryminalizowane i przedstawiane opinii publicznej jako egzystencjalne zagrożenie. W ten sposób, za pomocą brutalnej przemocy semantycznej i medialnej, dąży się do kulturowej oraz psychologicznej kastracji społeczeństwa ukraińskiego, aby na zawsze uniemożliwić mu wyjście z narzuconej roli podrzędnego, pokornego petenta. To stąd negowanie związków Ukrainy z Rusią Kijowską (która kulturowo i ekonomicznie stała w czołówce średniowiecznej Europy). Konsekwentnie również stąd wynika bagatelizowanie ukraińskich głosów o zbrodniczych działaniach licznych przedstawicieli narodu polskiego wobec Ukraińców. Ukrainiec ma się kojarzyć przeciętnemu Polakowi jako potulny, lekko egzotyczny ptak potrzebujący polskiej ideologicznej klatki bez której jest niezdolny do samodzielnego istnienia.

Używanie mitu o wszechobecnym, rzekomo zagrażającym Polsce tzw. "ukraińskim nacjonalizmie" (przypomnijmy środowiska skrajne w Ukrainie nie weszły w ostatnich latach nawet do parlamentu podczas gdy w Polsce rodzime środowiska skrajne są szeroko reprezentowane) doskonale maskuje także bieżące, czysto pragmatyczne interesy gospodarcze i polityczne. Przedstawianie Ukraińców jako niebezpiecznych radykałów ułatwia opinii publicznej usprawiedliwianie wrogich kroków, takich jak blokady graniczne, protekcjonizm ekonomiczny czy jawna niechęć do budowania realnego, równoprawnego partnerstwa w Europie. Zamiast równorzędnego dialogu, strona polska bezczelnie narzuca monolog oparty na bezwzględnym szantażu emocjonalnym. Prawdziwym, ostatecznym celem tej wyrachowanej strategii jest całkowite ubezwłasnowolnienie ukraińskiej tożsamości, sprowadzenie jej do nieszkodliwego, cepeliowskiego folkloru i uniemożliwienie Ukraińcom zdefiniowania samych siebie na własnych, autonomicznych prawach. „Ukraiński nacjonalizm” staje się w tym ujęciu wyłącznie wygodną, propagandową pałką, która w imię rzekomej obrony wartości ma za zadanie bezwzględnie zdusić w zarodku autentyczną, wolną i w pełni niepodległą podmiotowość narodu ukraińskiego.

Jest to "festiwal dobrego samopoczucia" polskich radykałów i kalka/kontynuacja najgorszych ukrainofobicznych trendów propagandy czasów polskiego międzywojnia czy sowieckiej propagandy a nie dbanie o jakiekolwiek ofiary po jakiejkolwiek stronie czy sprzeciw wobec jakiegokolwiek radykalizmu. Pokazuje to też jak bardzo zakłamany jest polski system oświaty historycznej, gdzie szerzej przedstawiano historię Francji niż historię wschodnich sąsiadów (dotyczy też jak przedstawiana jest w Polsce historia Litwy i Białorusi) gdyż taka retoryka trafia w Polsce na podatny grunt.
