I watched this yesterday and noticed a few things, Mehdi is so sharp and quick witted and wow right wingers are so open with their insane racist ideas. The part with this guy was crazy.

You know what, one mailbox is dangerously based. The idea of 3k employees working out of a single mailbox is so entertaining to me when I dont have to support it haha. It must have caused so many outlook crashes among other issues.

Yeah but for a new user its nice to see how different groups configure linux out of the box. Once you know what you're doing you can tweak the distro to your liking but new users seem to search for a default they like and stick with it until comfortable.

That is likely due to the RX9000 lineup needing the newer kernel for driver support. Kubuntu maybe didnt ship that 6.14 kernel at the time. Cachy is the best for new hardware because they have great tools for switching kernels and patching everything up to the bleeding edge. They make it easy to grab the latest kernel, mesa, nvidia driver or whatever you need for new hardware.

Yes its based on arch packages but its not the same as when people say "arch based distro" because SteamOS doesn't inherit the arch problems because its not on archs update schedule. While other arch based distro's follow the arch schedule and get all the issues that come with bleeding edge software.

First of all, prices already go up for things like netflix. This isnt aimed at subscription sites like netflix its more for pages where you browse for free at the cost of viewing ads like blogs, youtube, substack, lemmy etc. Yes prices would go up over time no doubt but the idea is that the users providing the money should lower the cost. 1000 humans visting your site should be willing to pay more than an advertiser is to show an ad to those 1000 people. Google generally pays around 5cents to 30cents for 1000 views. I dont know about you but I can split 30 cents between 1000 people, hell i'll even double it cause im generous. I think if 1000 people are viewing your website you should get paid for providing something interesting enough for 1000 people to enjoy. If everyone gave 1cent thats $100, if everyone paid double what the ad was they'd be paying $0.0003 each.

I dont want people who write a blog that is read by many people to need to subject their readers to ads all only to get a check from google saying heres a few cents bud. We can do better, and I dont think the answer is asking people to pay a $5 a month.

You could never have a city where no one pays maintenance and service fees.

I don't think a doctor would respond like that would they?. Anxiety and sadness are a normal human emotions. They only become Depression and anxiety disorder when they meet specific thresholds. Everyone waters down the meaning of both terms so much that its hard to tell the severity of the issue when someone says i have anxiety.

I've seen league of linux lemmy show up in search results but thats dead now so rip. Other than that we dont have that many answer style threads compared with the years and years of blogspam and reddit spam.

Linux takes like 5-10mins to setup. You can dedicate your first day/week to trying out a few different flavors to see which one you like.

I'd try distro's in this order Mint with Cinnamon > fedora KDE > Ubuntu Gnome > cachyOS if you're a baller > Arch if you want to learn and break things while doing it > NixOS if you absolutely hate having things work easily and learning transferable knowledge.

I am trying to use powershell to setup a process that off boards users and doing the AD side of things is great but I am not sure how to use powershell to interact with our other software that only has a gui.

For example user management in studio3T where they only have a web UI or an application that you can download and run locally.

In the documentation https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Progressive_web_apps/Guides/Installing mozilla says you need to install this extension.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pwas-for-firefox/

However it says the extension is not actively monitored. Is this feature supported by firefox or not? It seems tacked on and unsupported.

I'm looking to pick up an old M1 macbook from my work if I can slap linux on it and turn it into a usable laptop. Its the A2338

I'm most worried about hardware support and running into constant wifi, keyboard and software bugs.

Does anyone have experience using this class of device with linux?
