In my opinion killing is pretty bad but there are other crimes that can be worse, so not sure what point you are trying to make

Cool, I wish it had more images, but the few are nice. That animated gif is worth the click, no regrets.

Wait why would I hate Cameron Diaz? What are you, like an internet troll or something?

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 2 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Maybe you need to watch more Cameron Diaz, I don't know

More fitting of Unpopular Opinions I'd say

Please tell me that was before it was well known that he was a criminal

Hello, I've worked in 3D animation productions. Short answer: You can get close.

Unreal Engine has the capacity to deliver something of similar quality in real time providing you have a powerful enough rig. You would need not only the hardware but also the technical know how to optimize several aspects of your scenes. Basically the knowledge of a mid to senior unreal TD and a mid to senior generalist combined to say the least.

Had to read the headline twice to understand why there was a Machu Pichu image instead of a Sonic the Hedgehog one. No, Mothra, this is not a new Sonic release

This doesn't link to any website, which is unusual for this community. Are you the intellectual author of the post text?

You know, there is a community called No Stupid Questions you may want to check out

I think you're missing the point I was trying to make. Sure, I make mistakes like anyone, so what?

Saw a comic recently about this topic and got me thinking. I know what "the talk" is about since it appears in so many media but I don't ever recall having such an experience personally. Did you? What was it like?

I was a late 80s kid, just for context. As far as my experience goes, my parents were very open about sex as a natural process for reproduction. They answered openly any questions I had whenever I had them, keeping to the bare minimum necessary but never avoiding the topic- also never using metaphors as a substitute for plain facts ie. "the birds and the bees".

So at about age 5 or so I was already aware about how reproduction worked on animals, us humans included. As I kept growing up of course I kept connecting the dots on any social aspects of sex and relationships (ie that is supposed to be pleasant, that people do it even if they're not planning to have babies, etc) but I never had a moment of shocking realization regarding sex. I often found it stupid how some of my classmates would giggle or lower their voice when talking about anything sexual like, well, like it's a taboo. And I was often disappointed at how much of what my classmates knew wasn't exactly true, which at the time I chalked to their stupidity, although obviously it wasn't their fault. They were misinformed.

By the time kids got to sex ed in highschool they already had their facts pretty much right though, fortunately.

So I'm curious about your experiences about this while growing up. Was yours similar to mine or did you sit through some awkward conversations? How did you feel about it all?

:( fuck it

A few minutes ago two accounts on lemmy.ml started spamming pretty much every community on the instance with some crypto mining trash.

Moderators also noticed because all those posts are gone now, good job btw. Then I remembered, wait, doesn't .ml have an application process to filter spam and bots? Out of curiosity, I went to have a look at the users profiles and both accounts were about two years old, with no activity.

Are these hacked accounts? Is that an easy thing to do? And how can one prevent it from happening?

Was considering to get a grid mat, large- at least A2 or so - of those you can write and erase. After searching online I found few options, and they're a bit pricey.

Any recommendations? I don't need anything fancy. Just a large laminated grid that can be rolled up. Thanks

So I've been working in retail for a while and seen my share of odd and rude customers, but today I had my very first "Karen", and he was american also. (I'm not, and I'm in Australia).

The store I work for doesn't give their bags for free, we charge for them. This guy picked an online order and then threw up a tantrum and demanded to speak to a manager when I refused to give him a bag for free. Another team member (more experienced) just gave him the bag and he just left.

That does it I guess, but it's giving in to rude demands what sustains this kind of behavior imo. I'm not trying to protect the interests of the corporate I work for- it's just a stupid bag ffs, perhaps ask nicely? I've been called off both for giving away bags for free before as well as calling for the manager to deal with "minor issues".

So I'm asking, in general, how do you deal with these types of customers?

Asking after the privacy debacle and manifest. I'm not keeping up closely, but iirc Firefox is the browser recommended because of Ublock. After the privacy data issue I've noticed broken trust from Firefox users, recommendations in favor of switching browsers, and predictions saying Firefox is going downhill fast and that their forks won't be maintained for much longer.

So I'm here asking the seasoned sailors' thoughts, aye. Is this just a storm passing by or are you really considering jumping ship?

I'm not sure what I'm looking for, so I apologize if this doesn't make sense. I don't mean "anything goes" places like 196, and I don't mean memes or joke or casual conversation communities either. I'm just wondering if there are communities with a loose set of rules where people can reply to a prompt in a game like manner, for example "repeat the same but change one word only", or " wrong answers only", I don't know, I'm open to suggestions for anything gamelike I haven't heard of.

Please go easy on me, I'm not very tech savvy. So I got a new android phone, and everything is ok except the audio. This is using the same headphones I used with my old phone, so I'm not talking about improving the phone's speakers or headphones, but the quality of the sound as it is processed in the phone itself.

There is an equalizer (Dolby Atmos) but after trying every preset and option available I give up. They all sound tinny or kind of muffled. My old phone had just a basic "Moto Audio" and it was great. Both phones are Motorola and I'm disappointed to see this downgrade.

So the question is, can I install something to fix this and if yes, what type of app am I looking for?

Thanks

I'm not experienced with horses. I know many are trained to work for just about anyone. They were used in wars and police still use horses this day and age for crowd control, so I guess they can stomach a bit of violence and chaos. But most domestic animals behave differently with people they're familiar with vs random strangers, so I presume horses would follow suit?

My question is inspired by countless movie/videogame scenarios in which there are a bunch of random horses tied, and a character just picks any, hops on and rides away.

Or, there's a fight, horse owner gets killed and the thief rides away on the horse.

Regarding horse behaviour only, are these realistic scenarios?

How likely is that a horse would resist being mounted by a random?

Wouldn't they be scared or angry if their previous rider just got killed right there?

Is it possible for an experienced person to tell at a glance how obedient a horse is? (How?)

These are my sudden horse questions. TIA

Preferably an active one? Thanks

I've never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I guess I could go to ask lemmy or no stupid questions, and ask what does it taste like or of I'm missing out on something but that doesn't really feel like what those places are for.

So, is there any community you think I could start a conversation about that?

Where someone completely out of the loop asks about some current affairs and people try to summarise what's going on.

For example, right now I'm seeing a few Hillary memes and have no idea if there is something going on about her. OutOfTheLoop would have been the place to ask
