The historical parallels are quite alarming. The same reasoning was used in 1933 as well against the Institute for Sexual Sciences in Berlin (which offered gender affirming care as early as 1931 and was a target of one of the first book burnings there): "The destruction of the institute preceded a wider campaign against sexual reform and contraception, which were perceived as a threat to the German birth rate" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institut_f%C3%BCr_Sexualwissenschaft#Aftermath_of_initial_raids)

    Hii, for anyone is using nix/NixOS, here is a development flake, which makes setting up the dependencies very easy (since Nixos is declarative, this should work on any machine and produce the same results (and it does not clutter up your system environment with lots of different parallel java versions)):

    {
      inputs = {
        nixpkgs.url = "github:nixos/nixpkgs/nixos-26.05";
      };

      outputs = {self,  nixpkgs }: let
        pkgs = nixpkgs.legacyPackages."x86_64-linux";
      in {
        devShells."x86_64-linux".default = pkgs.mkShell {
          buildInputs = with pkgs; [
            maven
            openjdk11
            openjfx
            jre
          ];
          LD_LIBRARY_PATH = "${pkgs.libGL}/lib:${pkgs.gtk3}/lib:${pkgs.glib.out}/lib:${pkgs.libxtst}/lib:${pkgs.libxxf86vm}/lib";
        };
      };
    }

    Put this code in a file called flake.nix into the directory in which the licence.md and readme.md files are. Then just run nix develop in the same directory and then run mvn javafx:run from there.

    Wierd quirk: There is a warning that the java version does not match the one requested by the game (1.8.something), but everything worked for me.

    Disclaimer: I know that NixOS is a bit controversial, but the technology is cool. (Just beware of the community)
