I was going for forest walks at the time to help deal with my depression and for some reason just tried to be as quiet as possible one day. It was the best and I realized I didn't actually like the fitness part of the walk. Being as slow and quiet as possible felt much better

You're very welcome! Just to be clear, these are the types of dependencies I was thinking:

    • this task can only end a set time after that task ends (the cleaning of the job site can start during the job, but can't end until the job does)
    • this task can start after that task has started (I can start processing lab data after the first experiments have come in - I don't have to wait to the end)

    etc.!

I think it should be possible to define many dependencies / constraints and have the program simply freeze and flag when there are conflicts due to overdefining. I'm sure there's a way to calculate the degrees of freedom, though the math isn't something I can be bothered with rn haha

if you do Gantt charts, please make sure you implement as many dependency types as possible - most of the power of gantt charts lies in how depencies allow for changing one thing and having automatic adjustment of the entire timeline, but almost all of the tools I've used have only implemented "this task starts when that task ends" which is infuriating

no. I've seen recent studies that showed that driving your existing petrol car or buying used is still environmentally worse than getting an electric car. Not to say that I'm buying electric - I can't afford it.

    • I won't be searching for this to prove you wrong. you made the claim, so the burden of proof is on you.

    • I can't comment on repairability nor spyware, as I have no idea

Has anyone here had much success with automated book downloads and a self-hosted library? I've been pulling my hair out trying to get shelfmark and calibre-web automated to work for me.

I'm trying to use them for engineering textbooks which I realise is not the intended use-case, so any more appropriate suggestions would be appreciated. I want something that handles creating a searchable text layer on top on the book so I can search the textbooks more easily.

ShelfMark is having the following issues:

    • not connecting to annas-archive.is. I can reach it from my browser
    • the sources I want aren't covered by the indexers via prowlarr

CWA is struggling to ingest my engineering textbooks at all. I've just increased the time-out so hopefully that helps.

edit: increasing the CWA timeout setting let it get through the textbooks. shelfmark is my only problem now, assuming adding a text layer with stirling-pdf goes well 🤞

edit 2: shelfmark is now working (thanks to TheFerventLion below)! OCR in stirling-pdf is the last step

I've been setting up my first nas and set up DNS routing from my router to adguard home, which then routes traffic to nginx-proxy-manager, which then routes to the docker container for the intended service. I've spent days pulling my hair out, trying to figure out what the issue was - why all my services behind NPM were periodically unreachable on my browser. after a wifi reset on my laptop they'd come back online, but why? today I found out that although my router correctly had the DHCP setting correctly set up to route IPv4 traffic to adguard, there was a separate section in the router settings that handles IPv6 settings, and that this was set up to look for my ISP's assigned DNS provider. Just posting on the off chance anyone finds this helpful or entertaining. I am extremely tired (I have a 3 month old baby) so please bare with the poor formatting of the post!

Has anyone managed to get multiple CalDAV calendars (e.g. personal and work) to send out event invite emails using corresponding email aliases from the same email account?

I have multiple domains and aliases set up with a single email account through an email provider, but I'm just now trying to figure out how to separate the calendar into personal and work.

EDIT: I managed to get it set up and working with nextcloud! So yes, this is possible
