Technically it is possible, and I have heard rumors about some eastern European providers given unique public IPs on request, but practically no, not possible/available.

It isn't an election year though, so if you hit the people that are the campaign funders for the current politicians in power they might call in a favour with them and thus this can have a direct effect now and not only sometimes in a future election.

I think Taler would be a good supplement to the digital Euro, not a competition. It would be fairly simple to integrate an Taler exchange with a digital Euro API and use Taler as a digital cash alternative that works nicely for micropayments online.

There is an EU funded pilot project with a German and Hungarian bank, and at least the German bank plans to offer an public exchange for Euros very soon. Sadly they recently annonced that it will be only open to German business customers, but they plan to expand the offer to their European network or cooperative banks. Lets see.

Isn't Wero run by a group of EU banks? First time I hear about EU involvement. Afaik it is the counter effort to the digital Euro from these banks.

Edit: I see, the EU Commission is somewhat involved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Payments_Initiative but I don't think they are the driving force behind Wero.

You just shouldn't start a community and expect others to post in it a lot 🤷 Most people are lurkers anyways, and the prolific posters are probably already busy with their own communities. So especially in the beginning, it is yours to carry, so chose a topic you are personally interested in and know enough about to regularly post and make good comments. People will come if the community is worth it, the specialisation doesn't matter.

Edit: but you also shouldn't prematurely split off specialized communities like often the case with Discord channels.

No, it is a centralized digital payment system run by the ECB.

Any actual link?

[–] poVoq@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Basically a VPN where the endpoint is a VPS or a specialized service that offers a public IP.

For public services you will need some kind of tunnel, as cellular networks or Starlink will not provide you with a public IP. Otherwise no big issue with an ARM SBC and a somewhat decent battery.

https://bolha.one/ is a quite large Brazilian Mastodon server, and I know another Italian speaking Lemmy instance will be launched soon.

Solpunk is a gathering for anyone interested in creating anything solarpunk with others!

What does that actually mean? Is it an un-conference? Is it a festival? Is it just some punks in a field? A wise guess is that people here are interested in many of the following things:

Lowtech and community tech, energy reduction and renewables, sharing resources, temporary nomadic community, dancing, alternative economy, creating a just future, hackathons, dumpster diving, opensource hardware, software and production, means of care and solidarity, community
