Yeah, and especially mental health. Not many people are really going to go that far (it's a LOT of effort), but it's so unattainable that even fit people often don't feel good about themselves. Especially if you add all the makeup and doctored photos.

Average is plenty beautiful, though. At least in countries where 'average' doesn't mean 'severely over- or underweight'.

Beards are one of those things that are at least natural and have uses beyond beauty standards (e.g. some men have sensitive skin that easily gets irritated by shaving, and it protects the skin from sunlight, cold and drying out). If you don't go all out styling it or having it impractically long, a trimmed beard is less effort than a clean shave (at least for men who have to shave daily to maintain the clean look).

Same on both of those!

Ultra low body fat, e.g. high fashion models, bodybuilders. You don't see it that much in real life, but it's pretty heavily promoted in media. Plus the dehydration thing for bodybuilders, I hate that 'saran wrap' look.

Man, wouldn't it be nice if labor became obsolete, if the world wasn't ruled by egoists?

Your emergency meal sounds healthier than most of my regular meals, lol! It's usually just fries, zucchini and some kind of frozen meat or fish (all baked). Fresh zucchini probably doesn't last long enough for OP's needs, but it does last really long for fresh produce. Though part of it is that I kind of follow FODMAP so onions and legumes are out for me.

I've been rewatching K-ON! and Robotics;Notes pretty often for a while. Currently rewatching Bocchi The Rock, and I might give Yuru Camp another round one of these days. I'm not seasonal about it, though.

Yeah ...

Strategies against this include cooking for several people (well, that ain't happening), doing meal prep several days in advance / cooking larger portions that you can eat over a couple of days, and buying frozen ingredients (still better than buying entire frozen meals). Some non-frozen ingredients keep for a long time, too, e.g. dried rice or noodles, onions, pickled vegetables.

The European Union’s landmark anti-deforestation law could fail to deliver on its environmental promises if enforcement authorities disproportionately focus on small importers while missing less obvious violations from major commodity firms, according to a new analysis by U.K.-based investigative nonprofit, Earthsight.

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which comes into force Dec. 30, 2025, aims to prevent new tropical deforestation from Europe’s supply chains for soy, beef, palm oil and other commodities. To do so, it will require geolocalized data from indirect and direct suppliers that prove their products didn’t contribute to deforestation since December 2020.

The largest importers “will submit due diligence statements accurately and on time. They will have due diligence systems in place. They will have correctly identified risks. They will have traceability systems of some kind in operation,” the report’s authors write.

“The problems with these importers will lie deeper. Their mitigation measures will be weak. Their traceability systems will have fundamental flaws, but these will be well hidden,” they added.

In February, Cargill, one of the largest exporters of soy from Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest and Cerrado savanna, took advantage of the EUDR to weaken already existing anti-deforestation agreements. The agribusiness pushed up its deforestation cutoff date from 2008, the year established by the soy moratorium, to 2020, the cutoff date set by the EUDR. That would allow the company 14 more years of deforestation without consequence.

“There is good reason to be mistrustful of such firms,” Earthsight’s analysis writes. “Unfortunately, there are reasons to fear they will nevertheless get an easy ride when EU Member States start enforcing the new law.”

In the Ivory Coast, Earthsight’s data show, the top 10 importers buy up 83% of the local cocoa. In Brazil, the largest 10 multinational import companies ship out 64% of the nation’s soy exports.

Small companies will have an additional six months to comply with the law after it comes into effect, but producing accurate paperwork may be more challenging. They often lack the financial and technical resources necessary to quickly set up comprehensive due diligence systems with all the data points required by the law, experts say.

According to a report by Profundo, the relative cost for EUDR compliance is three times higher for small and medium-sized importers than large importers.

Europe’s enforcers will need to focus more on the quality of the largest importers’ reports, Earthsight said, rather than simply check bureaucratic boxes. “Going after such small firms will be much easier … and [authorities] will be tempted to focus most of their energy on this,” the group writes. “For the law to achieve its aims, it is essential that [they] avoid falling into this trap.”

That community has apparently had similar bans in the past, and neither the community nor the server mention their rules anywhere I can find. I also messaged the mod to ask for a link to the rules, their reply was "You need to complete your sentences otherwise you’re going to get a ban."

Not sure if the mod just didn't like the content of my comment and made up a nonpolitical reason, or if their modding is really that arbitrary.

Berlin’s immigration authorities are moving to deport four young foreign residents on allegations related to participation in protests against Israel’s war on Gaza, an unprecedented move that raises serious concerns over civil liberties in Germany.

The deportation orders, issued under German migration law, were made amid political pressure and over internal objections from the head of the state of Berlin’s immigration agency.

The internal strife arose because three of those targeted for deportation are citizens of European Union member states who normally enjoy freedom of movement between E.U. countries. None of the four has been convicted of any crimes.

Habe dazu leider keinen deutschsprachigen Artikel gefunden.

In light of recent Mozilla developments, I'm considering switching to a fork. But maintaining a browser fork is a pretty massive piece of work, so I'm wondering which ones are at least decent at that.
