Magic Tofu

Per pound or 454g of extra-firm tofu:

  • Break the tofu block apart by hands in a bowl, make pieces of 2cm/1'' large
  • Add 1 table spoon of preferred oil (nut, vegetable oils)
  • Add 1 table spoon of cider vinegar
  • Add 1 table spoon of soy sauce
  • Add 1 table spoon of sugar (best source are honey, agave or maple syrup)
  • (Optional) Add 1-2 table spoons of preferred spicy sauce (I use sambal oelek or thai red curry paste)
  • Mix
  • Add 30 g of nutritional yeast
  • Mix
  • (Optional) Add more nutritional yeast for flavor (another 15 g should do), mix again
  • Put on a baking tray, preferably with a parchment baking sheet to cover it, and spread the tofu apart
  • Bake for 25 minutes at 375°F or 190°C in the oven

Enjoy on everything! I add it on top of pizzas, in wraps, in a plate with vegetables and rice...

It may be anecdotal, but the push to use LLMs seems to come more aggressively from older folks. I always have to remind my older colleagues that, if we don't open new positions because "LLM can help us do more", we end up blocking newcomers from starting a new job in IT. It's as if, since they already have a secured position as seniors, they don't really bother thinking about the rest of us...

The moment you define human experience or human consciousness through language is the moment you open the door to emergent properties for that very experience or consciousness. Learning through science that we think or that we act a certain way deterministically is also giving us the means to self-correct or condition ourselves to act or to have a different viewpoint. This is the difference between us and machines: we collectively defined the perimeters of our experiences (phenomenologically or through a science-based approach) and therefore anything that changes that perimeter also changes the context of the human experience in an infinitely recursive way.

We also use language in ways that make us able to collectively conceptualize the world and its phenomenas, although we individually interpret words differently, idiosyncratically from our individual experience and value systems. This is something else that differentiate us from machines: we don't need the outputs and inputs to be mathematically the same to minimally understand each other. Our way to communicate, although imperfect and imprecise, has made us able to cooperate on a higher level than any other species (as of known) despite those epistemological hurdles.

I would posit that LLMs have no such emergent capabilities, as they're bound by their training datasets and limited by their model's parameters. The burden of proof for those emergent properties are on the data scientists, and as of yet I have seen no such proof.

City councillor Carla Beauvais heavily criticized the administration for not providing clear definitions. She also questioned the lack of public consultations. "A threat can be proven. An offensive word is felt. And how a person feels can vary from one person to another. So where does the offence begin? Where does permissible anger end? The text doesn't say," said Beauvais.

She cited various decisions from the Quebec City municipal court in which judges could not agree on what constitutes an insult, raising concerns that the rule will cause a backlog at the courthouse.

We often get watermelons from Ontario in Quebec, sold at grocery stores. Bought one 2 weeks ago, the whole thing for 2.99. The only hassle was carrying it over 2 km in my backpack.

How do you manage the updates? I do them once every two weeks, but even though I work in tech I have no desire to manually check each repo/kernel/update info. Last month or two there was an alert saying something among the lines of "we're working on removing malware from the latest updates" and that made me wary. Still a better experience than running Windows, but I miss the flatpacks from other distros.
