Hashem, a Gaza-born medical professional who obtained Ukrainian citizenship after nearly a decade living in the country, said the contrast in how Palestinians and Ukrainians are treated internationally has long been apparent.

“Travelling as a Ukrainian opens doors; travelling as a Palestinian closes them,” he said, describing the stark difference in freedom of movement, visa access and public sympathy attached to each of his identities.

“This is not a competition of suffering, but a question of principle. If human rights are truly universal, they cannot depend on nationality or passport,” said Hashem, who requested Al Jazeera withholds his surname.

Aaisha Aroggi, a 25-year-old student from Gaza City, was displaced 10 times in the first months of Israel’s war. She later made it to Egypt via the Rafah crossing, then to Ukraine, where she was granted residency because her brother was living and working in Kyiv.

Compared with the brutal conditions in Gaza, Kyiv felt like a safe haven at first, she said. But now, with constant Russian attacks on infrastructure, she feels she has gone from one place of destruction to another.

“War has the same face everywhere,” she said.

edit I reached out in a direct message to @QuentinCallaghan@sopuli.xyz in and he immediately accused me of going off the rails and appears to be stuck on a minor detail that I posted about this to my unmanned vehicles community, which I reference the Ukraine community specifically in the sidebar of. Ughhh.

Be aware of this kind of distortion on the conversation around what led up to Ukraine's allies having no more interceptors to give from the arbitrary launching of the Iran War when this outcome was widely accepted as most likely.

No explanation was provided.

In fact, the post I made asking why I had comments removed originally was removed and then another post asking why I was banned was removed as well.

No explanation other than handwaving at a rule I clearly did not violate.

The point I believe hit a nerve with the mod....

To back up my basic point that touched a nerve with the mod, I find it hard to look at the current situation with Ukraine having no missile interceptors available to be given by "allies" was an accident and totally unintended given the Iran War was launched by Trump/US Government and Netanyahu/Israeli Government.

Given there was no credible evidence the threat was acute from Iran, that Iran was actively moving towards clandestinely building a nuclear bomb or that any rationale used to start the war has been shown to have essentially zero substance.....given all that it feels maybe part of the reason for starting the Iran War when Trump and Netanyahu did was to make sure russia would have leverage over Ukraine by making sure there were no missile interceptors that they could be awkwardly goaded into giving Ukraine by their voters.

It doesn't really matter to me whether this is incompetence or this was on purpose, look at the facts, look at the information that was available to the decision makers like Trump and Netanyahu and consider the outcomes that were presented to them by their experts on the situation, look at the decades long established foreign policy writing in US political circles about how a war against Iran to try to control the Strait Of Hormuz would be futile from the beginning... for the precise reasons it now is...

Then consider that if Ukraine had a reasonable number of Patriots NOW from allies who still had sufficient interceptor stocks for themselves that russia would have very little leverage over Ukraine at this point given how badly the rest of the war has gone for them.

If Trump and Netanyahu were actually allies of Ukraine they would have consulted Zelensky before launching the Iran War and proactively considered how to conduct the war while needing to fire off the least amount of interceptors which would have included at a minimum Trump and Netanyahu consulting Zelenksy and Ukraine about quickly deploying mass air defense to preserve valuable Patriot missile stocks. There would have been negotiation about timelines and escalation limits to ensure the Ukraine War was not thrown under the bus for a pointless shitty war that only made things worse for everyone. They did nothing of the sort.

"Ukraine has never had this many missiles to repel attacks. More than 800 have been used over the past three days alone," Zelensky said.

Ukraine destroyed their 16th Wildberries distribution center in Tula and it is estimated that more than 96,000 Russians have lost their jobs due to the fires. Ukraine also hit the oil refineries in Ufa and Yaroslavl again. Ukraine is out of patriot interceptors and was unable to intercept a single ballistic missile that Russia launched at Kyiv last night.

Ukraine is committed to finding a way to force Russia to negotiate an end to this war before Winter. Ukrainian drone and missiles strikes are going to intensify inside Russia to apply more pressure on the Russian people so they then apply pressure on their government to stop the war. Putin does not want to stop the war and is planning to mobilize another 500,000 men in October.

The demented rapist had no authority or even conversations with the license holders about providing a Patriot license to Ukraine and when Boeing said NO he has to pretend he's reconsidered.

All part of a late-year MAGA push to pretend they love Ukraine because Putin's Puppet needs some help in the midterms.

Not strictly about Ukraine, but more about the collapse of Russia as a result of the war.

Ukraine is on Day 38 of its pressure campaign to force Russia to negotiate an ending to this war. Russia has given no indication they are willing to stop the war so Ukraine must continue deep strikes into Russia to make the war feel real for the average Russian. Three more oil refineries and two more Wildberries warehouses were struck in the last two days.
