They famously historically LGBTQ+ neighborhood, that also has a lot of music venues, bars, nightlife, etc. Its also where the uh CHAZ/CHOP momentarily existed, after Cap Hill got tired of being abuses by the local police force, barricaded/seiged them in their own Police HQ in the district, and forced them retreat from it entirely, in the dead of night, after literally burning a bunch of documents that would have proved they were knowingly breaking the law in their own 'riot control' actions, destroyed a bunch of their own computers too. Anyway, I brought it up because the OP specifically mentions Seattle. It was originally named 'Capitol Hill', because it was built with the idea that it would seat the actual Capitol of Washington state... but that ended up being built in a different city, Olympia... so... the name still persists, despite kind of being a misnomer / confusing. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago Hah, got it. Don't worry though, I'm in the same area/culture and still find it kinda weird to throw out a location like that. To be fair to them, though, the op post does reek of capitol hill furries and techno queers being commonplace and pleasantly weird.
