    I'd prefer that things I don't want installed, aren't installed from the beginning.

    I completely agree but for the sake of argument this could be used against any Linux distribution too. The difference though is that you’re not going to have tons of distributions of Windows with differing sets of packages.

    Don’t know what my point is since I just raised an argument and kind of solved it on my own.
