My opponent better hope they win before we get a Reverse and they’re stuck with my terrible play

Alt text description: Two people are playing chess along with a deck of Uno cards dictating play. Each turn a player draws a card. If the card has a number then that is the number of pieces they can move. Draw Two allows a player to return two captured pieces to the board. Skip causes a player to lose a turn. Reverse causes the players to turn the board around and switch to playing the other color. The actions for Wild or Wild Draw Four are not shown because the game ends in checkmate soon after a Reverse.

Yeah, default positions might work. Obviously, they could be occupied by other figures, too, but most figures have at least 2 potential starting positions, so it's likely that at least one is free. Plus you could just say that a valid starting position has to be free, otherwise you can't resurrect that figure.

And I think, the double-draw idea is a bit too OP. 😅
Even as demonstrated in the video, if you're allowed to play just 4 consecutive moves, you could easily checkmate without your opponent able to do anything...

    Could we perhaps add the clock to the rules and maybe just restrict those cards to messing with your remaining time? Lol

    Oh yeah, that could be cool. I was also thinking, you'd really want to force quick moves, so that players can't think too hard how they can checkmate. And of course, chess already has the clock for that. 🙃
