A photograph of downtown, Albuqerque, New Mexico, with a badly photoshopped illustration of an Opabinia descending upon the city. The Opabinia is a Middle Cambrian marine animal that looks kind of like a slug with several eyes and weird tentacle trunk on its face (I am serious).

Oh no, it’s a real place alright. All the rich people live on the east side of the river and in the north and look down on the poorer people on the west side and in the south. Crime is an issue, there were lots of hit and runs when I lived there, there was even a season where people had to learn to lock their car doors at stoplights cause you could just get carjacked in that amount of time. Wild place, don’t recommend.

I would've thought all the rich people finished moving to Santa Fe by now. I haven't lived there in 25 years now, but that seemed to be the way things were going at the time.

I was in highschool at the time so maybe 13ish years ago now? It was…still pretty bad even then. Always had to hold your breath driving through Rio Rancho because of how heavy they kept their police presence there.
