Not really disagreeing with you, but I was curious if that $240 includes all the crazy fees they tack on now.

Yeah that is all in, fare, fees, and taxes. Flying is dirt cheap lol.

I feel like it should be expensive because of the externalized costs , but I don't have any real data for that

They call them “externalized costs” specifically because they can ignore them. Things like pollution don’t cost a firm money in a measurable way unless they’re carbon taxed or something like that.
