I have been using Linux for over 8 months now, and my primary distribution of choice was Debian.

Debian recently conducted a community vote on allowing AI contributions, and it ended up allowing responsible AI contributions.

What is this responsible? How can AI commits be responsible? There are thousands of reasons to not use AI, and the primary reason is AI is a thief.

How did you react to Debian's decision? Did you switch distros? Which one was your option, and why?

Also, when the Linux kernel itself allows AI commits, is there any practicality in a Linux distribution strictly limiting or restricting AI commits?

I have no serious usability issue with Debian now but am concerned about the use of AI even in my Linux distribution. Should I keep going with Debian or consider any other distribution, as I only have 8+ months of experience as a daily Linux user? I tried almost all Linux distros and am comfortable with everything except Void Linux and highly complex ones like Gentoo.

It's been ages since i saw the video but didn't Jeff bring that up? He said shivering along the lines of that the ltt screwdriver was good but it might not be that good given it's price and the one it borrowed it's design from being cheaper and probably more bang for your buck.

I might be misremembering though, it wouldn't be the first time.

It's a long time ago, I don't remember the specifics of the video, and probably didn't like his video (partially) due to it being just another one jumping on the ltt screwdriver bandwagon, that sh*t was everywhere, I tend to block channels that have linus's munted head in their thumbnails these days.

I do remember jeff having a weird bunch of fans hanging off of his every word, I wondered who this guy was, and why he seemed so famous, but I had never heard of him. I have seen some of his videos since, he seems like a twat, unfortunately common in the pc tech space.

I only watch a few of his nowadays, don't care for the reviews and just the interesting tinkering ones. I never really looked into the community or anything beyond a few comments on the videos themselves here and there so I never really saw that side

I've always had a bad habit of reading the comments on youtube

With tech channels I started off following linus, and a lot of the other famous/popular youtubers (Jays nonsense, paul, whostheboss, brownlee, unbox, canucks, gamers nexus, der8aur, optimum etc, now my tech subscription list is much smaller than my blocklist, only a couple of those still followed. The tech space isn't what I believe it should be, but pc's are built around shiny lights now so...
