Election Day isn't a holiday here in Canada either, and we didn't vote for a Maple MAGA candidate for Prime Minister. He had a 20+ point lead in the polls over Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. When Trudeau dropped out and Carney was elected to lead the party, the Liberals not only won the election, Poilievre didn't even win his own seat and needed to run in a bi-election halfway across the country. While he won that seat, he lost 15 points the previous MP had won.
Billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians aren't unique to America. They exist everywhere. And yet what's happening in the US is somehow mostly a US problem. While they are certainly still a plague on America and the world, don't let people's complete lack of giving a shit a pass. 2/3rds of your country either voted for this, or just simply didn't give enough of a shit about their fellow human beings to bother. Yes there is disenfranchisement. Yes there is intimidation.
That isn't an excuse for just not trying at all. Gerrymandering gets erased when people vote. And not enough of you give a shit.
