An angry Donald Trump walked out of an interview with NBC's Meet the Press host Kristen Welker after an extraordinary exchange in which the president angrily insisted--without offering any proof--that "elections are crooked and you're crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked…and so is ABC and CBS and CNN."

The interview, airing on NBC Sunday, turned confrontational when Welker asked Trump about his idea to use $1.8 billion in taxpayer money for a "weaponization fund" to compensate people who believe they were unfairly targeted by a federal government "weaponizing" the justice system against them.

Calling out CBS as crooked after installing an ardent supporter as head of the company is an interesting play.

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 79 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Yeah, but that was last October! What has CBS done for him today?

You only have value to a narcissist when you're actively doing something for them. But he's also clearly got dementia, so he can't even remember who's on his side.

As a parent, it’s tough to restrain a child. I understand her frustration.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago

Kristin was probably like, my toddler acts better than this.

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 88 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm surprised he didn't accuse her of raping children.

It's nothing but projection from this waste of oxygen.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

"Also you're fat and smell awful, falling asleep all the time when you should be working because you're up all night posting insane rants online, with a cheap spray tan, and your hair looks like a piss-soaked tangle of spider webs. I'm done with this interview!"

[–] grissino@lemmy.world 35 points 6 days ago

In contrast to Trump, who is both.

[–] roofTophopper@lemmy.world 74 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

It's frustrating how the right hasn't figured out Trump's formula. Unless, they really don't want to.

Losing? It's rigged. They're cheating.

Republican who speaks out? RINO, low IQ, traitor.

Left? Stupid, terrorist, socialist, Insert Insult before first name.

Media that questions or doesn't agree? Fake news, corrupt, low viewership, stupid person and insert insult to women.

Celebrity who doesn't agree? Washed up, no talent, traitor, has been.

It's the same thing every single time. Not once has it changed since 2016. Whenever there is a tough question or a disagreement, he can't handle it. He hasn't ever answered a question with a thought out response that either diffuses the situation, or actually counters the argument being made. His brain doesn't work that way. It's instantly programmed to insult and disparage.

That trait usually reveals one of two things. The person is a flat out liar in what they are saying. They cannot formulate anything to get themselves out of it.

Secondly, the person is just stupid. Too stupid to figure out a way to put proper words together to debate the argument at hand. Five year olds do this because they haven't matured enough. It's understandable. For a 79 year old person, you could say it's age. Trump, however, has been doing that for at least the last twenty-five years.

I have to chalk it up as a zombie mentality for the right. They simply hear and ask no questions. As I said, frustrating.

I have been convinced for a while that we could very easily get the orange dipshit to do a 180 on everything he claims he believes if someone were to suggest things in a way that made him think they were his ideas and just appease his ego.

But that would require appeasing the son of a bitch, and fuck that.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 25 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Mamdani got him repeating socialist stuff after just an hour that first time.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Petro of Columbia, his the target of the president's handlers, turned him in his meeting as well.

[–] mrbeano@lemmy.zip 30 points 6 days ago

I don't think they hear it at all. Anything unflattering or challenging is caught by the thought firewall at Fox/OAN/WTF and dropped. The bubble is comfortable and viewers rarely bother to step outside of it.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 51 points 6 days ago (1 children)

TACO

He can't even withstand softball questions in his old, soft age.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

He's done this literally forever. He couldn't handle Ali G's ice cream glove related questions like 30 years ago.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 43 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Aww... what a delicate little snowflake

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 23 points 6 days ago

But imagine Harris with her woman emotions.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago (2 children)

You're either crooked or you're stupid

I think he just described the venn diagram of his base

[–] FreeAZ@sopuli.xyz 8 points 5 days ago

With him smack dab in the middle.

[–] fira@lemmy.today 20 points 5 days ago

Compost the Epstein class

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 37 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Congrats on doing your job like 6 years too late.

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 9 points 6 days ago

They're best at doing it when there's nothing at stake.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 22 points 6 days ago

Oh, I assumed she was calling him crooked.

Dude needs to look in a mirror

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 35 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Why would people who were successfully charged for breaking laws and actively participated in an insurrection deserve compensation or reparations as his reps have called it? He knows there's no excuse and he couldn't recall the talking point he was told so he loses patience and goes with typical attack he always uses.

[–] usernametbd@lemmy.zip 30 points 6 days ago

This is cognitive decline. He can’t cognate well enough to respond coherently so he lashes out with anger. If you’ve ever taken care of relative with dementia is any stage, you see this often in various ways. It’s scary having a man in this state of cognitive decline in a position with so much unchecked power.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Sad thing is that he's such a moron and a narcissist that he probably actually believes this.

I honestly just don't believe he's that intelligent

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 33 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It doesn't take much intelligence to act on. It's literally just "Nuh uh, you are" - the default retort of children everywhere.

yup. it's a fairly common instinct we have to teach ourselves to be better than. or if you're lucky, you have someone kind to teach it to you.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 10 points 6 days ago

I guess he's been living that his whole life. Would make sense that it's the thing he'd fall back on as his brain is starting to rot.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

I really don't think most practitioners are. They are just crafty enough to know how to try to freeze their targets with this kind of tactic.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

He’s just gifted that way

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

"A weaponization fund to help compensate people who believe they were unfairly targeted by the federal government" eh? So every black man, woman and immigrant in America?

[–] artyom@piefed.social 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Gas prices will come down as soon as the non-existent war that we already won is over!

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Hopefully gas prices will never come down. That would be a disaster for the climate

[–] one_old_coder@piefed.social 7 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Is there any audio or video for that?

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

glorious cake day

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago

Yeah. Reddit shit that I'd prefer people left behind.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 6 days ago

The cake is a lie

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Cuz everything sucks and we'll take any win we can get right now

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

First: Acid burn?

Second: You wouldn't have happened to have found a pre-cut version (to the parts described in the article), or a full transcript, would you?

Edit: YouTube already has hundreds, so nevermind 😉

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

That's a mean thing to say about your own supporters.
