An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

There's not been a surface that took less than 3 coats on my property so far lol, I feel your pain.

Unless you like painting of course! Looks good.

A brush might have been the better choice. Could have saved those coats :P

For a moment, I was judging your choice to paint a bright blue line around each window. I thought it was trim 🤣. Anyways, looks awesome! I’d love to see it a photo with the tape removed!

Looks like it finished very nicely!

Honestly, the blue trim as a highlight with the brown door works pretty well in my eyes

I don't bother taping around window panes like that because I find that I can scrape the paint off the glass with a razor scraper pretty much just as fast.

(I suppose it might depend on the pane size, since positioning pieces of tape gets more efficient as the length of the pieces gets longer. A big window is probably worth taping off.)

Whoever painted my house before I lived in it clearly thought that too, half my windows have scratches and gouges in them the rest I had to clean myself with acetone.

Must have been freezing to need that many!

The way the windows have reflected your neighbours houses and driveways makes this look like a painting.

I see a gen1 Skoda Yeti I guess. They had dsg transmission issues fixed later in gen2. I had a gen2 car, and it was a great pleasure to drive it. These are kinda dull facts, but I am not sorry.

Gotta watch out for those; somebody could doxx OP using that information.

(Not that it's likely, given that this is !dull_mens_club, after all, but ya never know!)

Dulux Weathershield. I skimped on the preparation, which is why it doesn't look as good as it could do. I only sanded using 80 and didn't bother with primer.

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 3 points 5 days ago

well, so long as it's protected again, it's all good

How was it before? Same colour?

[–] UncleArthur@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

Here's a 'before' shot.
