Isn't that the chemical weapon from The Rock ?

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 123 points 1 week ago (14 children)
[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 67 points 1 week ago (8 children)

Fun fact, Mi6 plagiarized from the plot from The Rock to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Specifically "the use of glass containers for chemical agents and the similarity of the description to those portrayed in The Rock "

[–] sorter_plainview@lemmy.today 22 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That is not really correct based on the available information. Look at the title of the article itself,

The Rock movie plot 'may have inspired MI6 source's Iraqi weapons claim'

The source of Mi6, claimed that Iraq had this. But Mi6 was clearly suspicious, because chemical ammunition are usually not stored in glass containers. This is given just below of the line you quoted,

MI6 accepted this possible flaw to the intelligence, the report adds: “The questions about the use of glass containers for chemical agents and the similarity of the description to those portrayed in The Rock had been recognised by SIS. There were some precedents for the use of glass containers but the points would be pursued when further material became available.”

Yes. In a string of pearls configuration; very unstable.

Yes, and once-upon-a-time (if I’m remembering correctly) Condoleeza Rice and/or Colin Powell cited this device as evidence of WMDs in Iraq to the United Nations Security Council.

this is literally just a photoshopped/dyed wind chime LOL

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

no, it's either a screenshot from - or an AI replication of - the 1996 movie "The Rock" starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage in which the depicted item is a dirty bomb / chemical weapon poised to wipe out San Francisco using Alcatraz as a base of operations.

[–] OS2Warp@lemmy.zip 130 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I think he’s dead, so I’d say it’s not him.

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 53 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's exactly what someone who is dead WOULD say. Hmmmm

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 48 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If anyone faked their death to continue posting weird shit online under their own name it would be him

The Rock was the basis for false descriptions of the Iraqi chemical weapons program. Britain's Secret Intelligence Service was led to believe Saddam Hussein was continuing to produce weapons of mass destruction by a false agent who based his reports on The Rock, according to the Chilcot Inquiry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rock_(film)

This is what the VX gas from The Rock came in.

The crazy thing is that VX gas is real, and what the movie shows it to do isn't even half as bad as what really happens.

Dear God.

We need to pull Sean Connery out of retirement to save us from The Rock and hardplace we find ourselves stuck in between.

I'm going to write a strongly-worded letter to the president of Antifa about their use of chemical weapons.

Caches of dihydrogen-oxide were discovered, a chemical which if inhaled can asphyxiate and cause death. The chemical was cleverly disguised with sweeteners and packed in containers making it look like a harmless treat.

Suuuuuure. Antifa is so fucking dumb, their genius plan is to sabotage the reflection pool, because that is the thing that will tear down the power of fascists. Hmm hmm, yeah sounds legit. For sure a better explenation than the corrupt guy getting the job because he's buddies with Trump, without any consideration for any other company, while he cuts corners and cheaps out on shit which ends up with a lowsy job. Suuuuure. The guy looks super trustworthy, and totally not like a Disney villain, so he must be doing a good job. I mean, Trump personally chose him, and Trump is a god so he cannot make bad decisions, he never ever did in his entire life, even molesting kids was a great decision... Right?.... Right? But by sabotaging the reflection pool, antifa will be able to win the fight against Trump and his fascist oligarchs. Yeah, this is what they came up with.

Anyone who believes this shit must have just enough braincells to be able to breath.

The desperation in covering up the lost war against Iran is now so pathetic, they might just release the Epstein files next.

Russia has been at war with Ukraine since 2019 and neither side has won. US has been at war with Iran and they lost within a few months. An illegal war started to cover up the Epstein files. Now a failed job of the reflection pool to cover up that lost war. The US keeps on amazing me they manage to find new lows.

Question. The dumb asses just started using the word peptide more frequently, am I correct in assuming that it is just another word for protein/amino acid?

[–] Anarch157a@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 week ago

All proteins are peptides but not all peptides are proteins. Peptides are chains of aminoacids, when they're long enough, then they're called proteins.
