The biggest mistake people make when looking at war is assuming the objective is to hit the enemy’s capital as quickly as possible. That’s political theater, not military strategy.

If you look at the strike map, Iran isn’t behaving like a country trying to maximize headlines but like a military attempting to shape the battlespace.

The targets are not random or insignificant. Iran is dismantling the entire American military ecosystem in the region:

Early warning radar sites. Air defense systems. Aviation facilities and hangars. Logistics hubs. Fuel and ammunition storage. Forward operating bases. CENTCOM support infrastructure. Bases supporting operations in Syria and Iraq. Naval and maritime surveillance assets. Intelligence collection and communications nodes.

Look at Jordan as an example. Most people couldn’t point to Tower 22 or Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on a map, yet they’re arguably more important militarily than firing a few missiles at downtown Tel Aviv.

Tower 22 supports operations at Al-Tanf. Muwaffaq Salti hosts American aircraft and coalition operations. Erbil supports intelligence and special operations. Bahrain hosts the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters. Kuwait is a massive logistics and staging area. Qatar hosts the forward headquarters of CENTCOM and the largest U.S. air base in the Middle East. These are the eyes, ears, and connective tissue of American power projection in the region.

From a military perspective, you don’t begin by punching the strongest part of your opponent. You isolate him.

There are several principles of warfare being applied here:

  1. Suppression of enemy support infrastructure.
  2. Degradation of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.
  3. Attrition of air defense and interceptor inventories.
  4. Disruption of logistics and sustainment.
  5. Political pressure on host nations.
  6. Shaping the operational environment before attempting anything larger.

The United States does not fight Middle Eastern wars from Washington or even from aircraft carriers alone. It fights them from an interconnected network of bases stretching from Jordan to Qatar to Kuwait to Bahrain. If that network becomes degraded, every sortie, every intelligence feed, every resupply mission, and every interceptor launch becomes more difficult and more expensive.

People screaming “just bomb Tel Aviv” fundamentally misunderstand what modern warfare looks like. Destroying a radar site that enables coalition air operations can be militarily more valuable than causing superficial damage to a symbolic target.

There’s another aspect people are missing: INTERCEPTOR ECONOMICS.

Every Patriot interceptor fired costs millions of dollars. Air defense inventories are finite. Sustained operational tempo places enormous strain on maintenance crews, missile stockpiles, and logistics chains. If an adversary can force you to defend a dozen locations simultaneously, you’ve already begun winning the resource allocation battle.

Historically, successful military campaigns begin with degrading command-and-control, communications, air defenses, and logistics before moving to decisive operations.

Whether one agrees with Iran politically is irrelevant to the military analysis. What we’re witnessing is not random retaliation, it is a deliberate campaign aimed at systematically degrading the regional architecture that allows the United States and its allies to project military power across the Middle East.

Jordan is the key, the last & most important layer defending Israel.

The increasing rate of direct hits is a direct result of Radars & other U.S. equipment destroyed in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar ... added to the depletion of air defense interceptors, something that couldn't have been achieved in a few days.

During 20 years CENTCOM turned Arab countries into a dome protecting Israel, and Iran is now methodically dismantling it.

🇯🇴Dozens of Jordanian national, political, cultural, and tribal figures issued a joint statement calling for the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country and emphasizing the necessity of upholding national sovereignty.

The signatories urged the Jordanian government to revoke the security and military agreement concluded with the United States and to submit it to Parliament for annulment or restriction.

🇮🇶🇾🇪 Official Support from Iraqi Resistance for Saudi Arabia's Naval Blockade

Kata'ib Hezbollah of Iraq, in an official statement, expressed solidarity with the people and leadership of Yemen, and supported the decision of the country's armed forces to impose a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia.

The statement described the naval blockade of Saudi Arabia as a reciprocal response to the twelve years of unjust blockade against the people of Yemen, and a step towards defending national sovereignty.

Kata'ib Hezbollah, emphasizing the strategy of blockade in response to blockade and escalation in response to escalation, presented this action by Yemen as a manifestation of a strong will to reclaim the rights of the Yemeni people.

🇮🇷🇾🇪A Yemeni child weeps on Mahan Air flight back home to see his parents after three years. Faced with the gutting of its economy via the recently declared Ansarallah blockade of the Red Sea to Saudi ships, Riyadh is looking the other way as Iranian airlines begin to challenge its illegal 11-year siege of Yemen.

    @SimurghRes

    Video: https://t.me/SimurghRes/7758

Personal Experience with YemenI've mentioned this memory of mine before as something that was instrumental to my development but this video caused me to reminisce on it.

During a visit to Iran while I was a child, my family took me to an amusement park. At one point when waiting in line for an attraction, we spotted a group of young men, younger than I am today if I were to guess, who were given permission to bypass the line.

They all wore beige military uniforms and all had an amputation of sorts, a missing arm, a missing leg, parts of the hand. They were also covered in bandages and multiple used crutches to walk.

My mother then explained to me that they were from the front lines of Yemen, and were being given a few privileges due to coming back from the war, which by this point would not have ended until years later.

The thing I remember about those young men more than anything else, is the fact they were all smiling. Not just polite small smiles for the sake of cordiality, but real bright and wide smiles. These men who were missing limbs and had to hobble everywhere they went as if they were scrap put together haphazardly smiled more genuinely and cheerfully than I think I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't understand a word they said but their demonor was enough to tell me how polite they were as well when conversing with the staff and passersby.

That was my first impression with people from Yemen and with the physical remnants of the Saudi genocide against them. It's stuck with me all these years later and I can never really forget it, nor would I want to.

The Saudi genocide of Yemen has become a mainstream conflict that most politically engaged people are at least somewhat aware of. I'm glad that more and more people are aware of the Yemeni plight and many people have expressed their condemnation to the Saudi regime. However, I'll admit that I feel a little frustrated at times, because so many people treat the experience of Yemenis as just another part of geopolitics and don't go deeper to understand the nature of the Yemeni people.

They are a brave and wonderful people, who deserve more than every bounty of the world. If there were a place that holds the heart of the world it would in Yemen.

I will never forget those young men and their smiles. Till the day I die, their image will remain on my head.

Of all the nations in that region, Yemen is the one I'm most excited to see liberated from imperialists. And Yemen is the reason why I see the Arab monarchs as a threat that must be destroyed after the zionists for any justice to exist in the region.

And yet you will still have western "leftists" who claim to support Iran still side with Ukraine, just because they cannot get over their Putin derangement syndrome.

(And yes, fuck Hasan Piker in particular for being an absolute hypocrite on this issue.)

Newsflash: you cannot simultaneously claim to support the Axis of Resistance against the US empire and its genocidal Zionist proxy and at the same time also support another clear US proxy that also follows a racist, fascist ideology!

My patience for these fake anti-imperialists has been completely exhausted.

It is time to choose a side. You either stand against Western imperialism everywhere or nowhere! Ukraine knows on which side it stands. It stands with genocidal "Israel" and with the child-killing US war machine. Russia stands with Iran and China and the global south.

From HB news mega (post body, "Debasification")

    spoiler

An image of Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, c. February, where Iranian strikes have caused substantial damage and several US soldier deaths and casualties.

My weekly preamble is in spoiler tags below.

    spoiler preamble

After an uncertain beginning to this second major period of hostilities, we can now see the overall plan for either side.

For the Americans, their fire has been primarily focussed on southern Iran, where they have been attempting to break Iran’s control of Hormuz by a steady campaign of striking both military and civilian sites. Additionally, it looks like the US is attempting to shape the battlefield around Bandas Abbas and Qeshm Island for some kind of incursion, as we have seen bridges and tunnels in the vicinity struck by missiles. The key word there is “attempting”, because there are several things wrong with this plan both tactically and strategically.

Tactically, Iran has demonstrated the ability to very quickly get their transportation infrastructure repaired, and the US simply isn’t firing volleys in the required amounts - and towards the right targets (they’re using several missiles on purely civilian targets, like fishing boats) - to meaningfully degrade Iranian control of even this sector of the coastline. Additionally, an amphibious assault on Qeshm Island in the style of the WW2 Pacific theater is essentially impossible unless Iran, for whatever reason, allowed it. The gauntlet that any ship holding Marines would have to run to get to the island precludes this, let alone also transporting heavy weaponry and materiel for resupply. Using helicopter-borne troops or paratroopers would be much more feasible, but runs into even greater logistical problems if the US wanted to do anything there other than a brief skirmish before withdrawing. Strategically, even if the US waved a magic wand and took Qeshm Island, it’s unclear what this would do to fulfill war aims. The most obvious intention would be to trade it back to Iran in return for a major Iranian concession, but what if you take the island, you call up Iran saying “Alright, let’s get this deal running! First, I want no Hormuz tolls–” and Iran just… hung up, and kept firing drones and missiles and artillery at your forces on the island until they either all died or were forced to retreat? It’s not a tenable position to hold, and Iran’s capabilities to affect shipping in Hormuz are obviously not all concentrated on one single island.

So, what is Iran’s strategy? It’s what one analyst (Amerikanets) has termed “debasification”. If the first phase of the war from late February to mid-April was focussed primarily on generally destroying and disrupting the US’s military infrastructure in the region, what this second phase has planned is something more like a region-wide missile advance. Starting from the Gulf states and their US bases, the plan is to push back American planes and soldiers to further and further afield bases and thereby make sorties against Iran take much more time, fuel, and use more resupply planes. Iranian strikes are, as of me writing this, concentrated on Jordan, where a recent Iranian strike caused the first admission of soldier deaths in quite some time. The Iranian goal is clearly to push back all US planes to at least the Zionist entity, by which point, unless they are withdrawn further back all the way to Europe, the planes will all be so concentrated on so few bases that it will become a physical impossibility to get them all scrambled before Iranian strikes hit. Compared to the US’s strategy, Iran’s is immediately bearing fruit, with US strikes already very limited in intensity compared to the first phase of the war months ago. The irony of the US breaking off negotiations - again! - to pursue a new strategy that already looks to be profoundly failing is truly some inspired stuff; the genocidal architects of American imperium in the mid-20th century are rolling in their graves. ::: :::

❗️Lockheed Martin raises 2026 forecasts after surge in missile production & 'defense' spending

ExpandLockheed Martin raised its 2026 revenue and profit outlook on Thursday as the Pentagon moves to replenish weapons supplies.

Shares of the 'defense' contractor climbed 7% in premarket trading following the announcement.

US President Donald Trump has been pressuring 'defense' companies to expand production as the US-Israeli war on Iran and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war have depleted US military stockpiles.

Lockheed’s missiles and fire control division saw revenue increase nearly 20% to $4.1 billion, driven by increased production of its PAC-3 and Precision Strike missiles, both of which have been used during the war on Iran in recent months.

The division also benefited from higher output of THAAD missile interceptors after Lockheed secured a $35 billion US government contract in June to quadruple production capacity.

    https://t.me/thecradlemedia/64840

I don't understand why anyone would want to buy any PAC-3 missiles after their performance against Iranian missiles.

"Pay us billions so that you can get bombed anyway but also have a chance that our interceptors fall on homes after missing."

❗️UK Consulate in Jerusalem account suspended by X after highlighting Palestinian detainee abuse

ExpandThe official X (formerly Twitter) account of the UK Consulate in Jerusalem has been suspended following a series of posts criticizing the treatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. On 19 July, the @UKinJerusalem account shared a joint statement issued by missions including the UK, EU, Canada, and several European nations. The statement raised urgent alarms regarding the condition of more than 9,000 Palestinians currently held by Israel, many of whom are subjected to administrative detention without charge or trial.

The now-inaccessible thread emphasized that Palestinians are facing severe systemic abuse, including inadequate nutrition, denied medical care, and the complete suspension of family visitation rights, while in Israeli detention. The diplomatic mission’s statement demanded immediate intervention, calling for fair trials, guaranteed legal representation, and renewed access for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The account was rendered inactive shortly after these posts reached the public, with no further updates or acknowledgments provided by the British government, the Israeli authorities, or anyone from X.

❗️WFP says Gaza food security & child nutrition improve but remain fragile

ExpandThe UN World Food Program (WFP) said on Thursday that food security and child nutrition conditions in the Gaza Strip have improved, but remain vulnerable due to limited humanitarian access, with only one aid crossing currently operating.

The Rome-based agency reported “an improvement in food security and child nutrition across the Gaza Strip,” but “cautioned that the progress, driven largely by expanded access to humanitarian food, nutrition, agricultural and health assistance, remains fragile.”

The WFP said that while humanitarian access has increased, only the Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem crossing in southern Gaza remains open, restricting the movement of essential supplies.

The agency noted a “significant” rise in food and nutrition assistance since the October 2025 ceasefire agreement. In May, food packages reached around 1.5 million people, while approximately 700,000 people received cash assistance and 60% of children under the age of five received nutritional support.

❗️UNESCO adds Lebanese & West Bank sites to World Heritage in Danger list

ExpandUNESCO has placed several historic sites in Lebanon and the occupied West Bank on its list of World Heritage Sites in Danger, citing damage and threats linked to Israel.

Among the sites added is Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, a Crusader-era fortress besieged by Israeli occupation forces during their invasion in Lebanon. The castle is one of five historic fortresses in the Jabal Amel region included in the listing, with UNESCO warning that the sites had suffered damage and faced continued risks “serious enough to justify resorting to an emergency procedure.”

Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salame welcomed the decision, calling it “a remarkable achievement in the effort to protect these important Lebanese historical landmarks.” He said only some of the sites remained under Lebanese control and accused Israel of damaging Shamaa Castle and threatening Beaufort.

UNESCO also listed Sebastia, an archaeological site near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, as endangered. The site is believed to be the location of the ancient city of Samaria and has become the focus of Israeli preservation and development plans, including a land expropriation project.

UNESCO warned that the site’s integrity was threatened by plans to establish the “Samaria” (Shomron) National Park. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar criticized the decision, accusing Palestinians of seeking to erase the supposed Jewish connection to the area.

❗️UN Rapporteur Albanese denounces West Bank pogroms, demands immediate arms embargo on Israel

ExpandUN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese blasted ongoing Israeli military operations and settler violence across the occupied West Bank as pogroms, accusing soldiers and Israeli settlers of joining forces to terrorize defenseless Palestinian civilians.

The sharp condemnation follows a sweeping military assault ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz in the Nablus governorate, which left four Palestinians dead and numerous homes torched.

Asserting that culpability extends far beyond a few isolated actors, Albanese demanded immediate punitive actions under international law, specifically calling for a comprehensive arms embargo and a total halt to trade with Israel.

❗️Spokesman for Hamas's Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida:

"A salute of respect and honor to our steadfast people in the West Bank and its uprising youth, who have struck blows against the occupation and confronted its gangs of settlers from Nablus to Jenin and Jerusalem, taking revenge for their Al-Aqsa Mosque, which groans under the burden of desecration by the most despicable of people.

Let this criminal enemy know that Al-Aqsa has men who will protect it, that Palestinians do not accept humiliation, and that the hearts of our youth are boiling as they see Al-Aqsa being desecrated, the West Bank being Judaized, its homes demolished and lands confiscated, and Gaza being slaughtered from vein to vein. The escalation of its aggression will bring it nothing but calamities.

We call on all members of our people, our clans, and honorable members of the security forces to rise up in defense of their holy sites, their honor, and their land, and not allow outlaws to act with impunity. Let everyone know that our people’s true battle with the occupation is in the occupied West Bank, and we are confident that it will be the key to achieving complete victory over this Nazi occupier."

🇮🇷 IRANIAN MILITARY SOURCE: HIT ANY BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT IN IRAN — WE HIT SEVERAL REGIONAL ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE SITES IN RETURN

A military source told Tasnim News Agency, responding to Trump's latest threat that "if Iran targets any ship, we will hit a bridge or power plant in Iran in return":

Iran has an iron will in exercising sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz — and will not allow the strait to become a tool of threat against Iran again.

The source added: ship passage through the strait will be safe if coordinated with Iran and under Iranian arrangements. Otherwise, Iran will not back down from its firm resolve to control the strait, viewing this as essential to the strait's long-term security.

The military source noted: if the Americans strike a bridge or power plant in Iran, Iran will respond by striking infrastructure and bridges across the region — including energy facilities in which the US has interests.

He stressed: after the past ten days, the Americans should be fully confident that Iran will strike wherever it decides to strike. Any gamble Trump takes will once again end in his humiliation.

❗️Iran's interior minister calls on BRICS to condemn aggression against national sovereignty

ExpandIranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni urged BRICS states on 24 July to take a firm stand against aggression, violations of sovereignty, attacks on civilians, and the destruction of critical infrastructure.

Speaking at a BRICS interior ministers meeting in India, he said of the assault on Iran "The violation of a country's territorial integrity, widespread destruction of infrastructure, residential areas, schools, hospitals, and the killing of civilians are clear manifestations of disregard for international documents."

Momeni stated that a unified BRICS voice defending international law would send an important message to the international community.
