Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I take my eldest son out running with me. He plays sport at a national level (not yet near the international stage) so it's nice to go out to bang in five kilometres every now and then - it's a great bit of cardio for him, and it drags me out to keep me healthy.
Honestly, 25 of those minutes are robloxrobloxrobloxrobloxrobloxfortniterobloxrobloxroblox and it can get draining... but it's important to him so it's important to me.
Honestly, it's just time spent alone with him that makes the difference for me. He's got some big changes coming up in life and I want to be there for him, so if he ever drops that little breadcrumb into conversation that he's got problems with his boyfriend or girlfriend, or if he's getting a hard time off someone, or if the studying and sport is getting him down - then I'll have hopefully made a space safe enough to chat freely and openly, and his mental health doesn't take a battering before it's too late.
One can dream.
Having just dropped a kid off at college, I will tell you: the platitudes you've heard from others the whole time you've been a parent are all correct. It DOES go fast. They ARE the best times. You WILL look back on them fondly.
My first one is starting school soon, and it already feels like the first years flew by!
It accelerates. Mine just started middle school and I'm glad I'm like the other guy up there. She can and will tell me anything and I'm grateful because in about 34 minutes she will be all grown up and moved out.
Great parenting right there.
Wait, geometry dash lets you play as more than a cube? I dropped it like hot garbage because the cube was boring
I remember as a kid I was so excited when I got a blue chocobo in FF7 (I'm old) I ran upstairs to tell my mother. She did not care, nor pretend to care. Made me a little sad, and what could have been a nice moment did not materialize.
I try to listen to the children in my life. If little nephew wants to tell me about his robots and pokemon, I'll be there and try to engage
Passions are beautiful.
(Am I the only one who wants to know the whole statement?)
Anyone know which game?
It's Geometry Dash
The one in your phone
I'd guess Geometry Wars
Geometry Wars was the one that was playable on the arcade machine, in the garage area, in Project Gotham Racing 2 on the OG Xbox. Got a proper release and sequels after that. I was a PGR addict as a kid. Awesome soundtracks, online play, and my first racer that wasn't arcade-like or combat oriented (Road Rash, Twisted Metal, etc).
I loved the PGR games. All of them. I was very sad when that studio closed.
When they added locations with local radio stations in PGR2, I thought it was coolest thing ever. Growing up in the DMV, "Elliot in the Morning" on DC101 was (still is) the big morning talk radio show. Hearing Elliot introduce tracks by Bif Naked, Trust Co., and such while racing past local monuments was wild.
I wonder what sort of nightmare it had to be for a game studio to get all the necessary rights. It was after Clear Channel (iHeartRadio) acquired a ton of stations in the US so DC101, Hot 99.5, etc were probably negotiated through a single point of contact. The international stations were mostly independent if I can remember right.
Geometry Dash.
Source: am parent.
I canβt believe that game is still around. Been a minute since I was playing it way back when.
I tried it and thought "what is this basic shit?"
10 minutes later and I'm at 60% and grinding towards 61%. Highly addictive but in a good way
You are a good parent, being repeatedly told as a kid that you are doing something wrong for just being who you are (like in the comic) is doing real damage
