That racquetball thing in the 1980s was kind of odd.

Imagine a form of exercise being popular, tho.

I guess it sort of does mark the decline of social life, though, requiring only one other player.

    Not hard to imagine.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazzercise

It became a pretty big fad in the 80s/90s.

    It’s still a thing today.

It is, and it also was —even before GTA, it was a stupid thing that stupid people did to shoehorn some illusory semblance of having their shit together for the judging eyes they imagine all around them.

That's a bit harsh, it's just a guided exercise class. Maybe it carried that snootiness originally but....my grandma did jazzercise at the senior center lol

An instructor plays music and calls out "dance" moves to the beat for everyone to follow. It's like square dancing or...Dance Dance Revolution.

Doing it as a group to music makes it easier to keep your pace up and it's kinda fun to exercise collectively. Same as step aerobics or running groups

They have a few pickleball courts around me. Even pickleball leagues and meet ups. I only know because I was confused about what pickleball was. Apparently it's tennis for people that don't wanna run.

Reminds me of that Bowling Alone book that establishes the decline of social capital and then goes to great length not to analyze that term further.

Jim, you're the temu of Jack & Coke, and now you think you can slide into other coke's turf? Oof. You really are just caramel coloring and a heap of stupid in a bottle, eh?

jack and coke is some "cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement" shit - you either drink coke or you drink whiskey. MAKE A CHOICE!

Except for the beach ball and the plastic flying disc, didn’t all these exist for some time before 1955?
