Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I build one every morning after my coffee.

Looks just like him.

.....smells like him too.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 11 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Instead, we'll ensure that we tear down the ones you tried to build and we'll prosecute your friends and family for the countless crimes they've committed.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

Narrator in 2028: they didnt.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

'Dont vote. Just yell at the screen for the next 4 years.' - sitouts

[–] kaotic@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago

That’s because he’s a shining example of the worst humanity has to offer.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Wow, he said something factual.

Is this terminal lucidity? Is he actually dying soon?

[–] tostane@thelemmy.club 9 points 9 hours ago

I hope everyone rallys and destroys all things with trum on it for what he did to all of us.

[–] bobbyfiend@retrolemmy.com 4 points 8 hours ago

And if they do, some of us will take national tours for the express purpose of pissing on every one of them.

The Donald J Trump Sewage Treatment Facility

[–] nieminen@lemmy.world 11 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Naaa, that facility is necessary and performs a useful service.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The Donald j trump memorial cesspool

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Not smelly and toxic enough

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 2 points 19 minutes ago

The Donald j trump Latrine pit mixed with gasoline and set on fire?

[–] Evrala@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I for one am in favor of keeping his stupid ballroom. It just needs a little tweak. It can be "The Donald J Trump Museum of Corruption."

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 2 hours ago

We need more monuments to human fallibility. Stay humble, fools.

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

that's not true. Germany has holocaust museums. Similar idea.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 17 minutes ago

True, but Saxony just voted and showed that there are quite a few people who love the idea of the holocaust

[–] nanometer1625@thelemmy.club 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

This is a rare moment of self-awareness from a creature that lives in an imaginary world.

[–] GolfFoxtrotLima@sh.itjust.works 21 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Good, tear down the monuments already built for him when he dies

[–] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

We should tear them down now and make him watch.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

He should have to pay to restore everything he's destroyed.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

His entire family should. Up to and including Barron's kids if he ever has them.

[–] JohnnyMac@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (2 children)

I met a traveller from an antique land

Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desart. Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:

And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

- Percy Shelley, "Ozymandias"

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

I might be stupid as f but what does this mean:

" Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear:"

"well those passions read", wat?

"the hand that mocked them and the heart that fed" wat ?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I'm more hoping to give him the Akhenaten treatment

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

the Lucius Crassius treatment is more apropos...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Why not both

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 10 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh you poor soul, it's not only that, they are likely going to tear down any monuments or rename them when you are gone as well.

I see no route where regardless of party who gets in in 2028 is going to keep any of the names either, like "Lake America" and "Gulf of America", it's such an insult to the rest of the world anyone running would decide against it and without any real opposition against tearing down the existing monuments made, I don't see any real blockers.

I do think that they are likely right that the ballroom or whatever it ends up actually being will stay, but everything else? I firmly expect won't be.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Putting it out there that I'll pay my way to DC and help tear down any of Trump's pet projects for no cost whatsoever.

[–] kenjen@feddit.online 12 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

We'll build monuments to his assassin.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 17 hours ago

Cholesterol?

[–] raze2012@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Don't worry we'll museums for him. These days, instead of newspaper headlines and TV footage we'll have wall of unhinged tweets and AI propaganda posted on the official POTUS feed

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Nobody remembers that shit. We throw it in the memory hole because it's too embarrassing to think about. That's how it still keeps on happening when we should know better already.

[–] dermanus@lemmy.ca 29 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

That's more perceptive than I'd give him credit for.

Someone will. A paid toilet with monuments to you, you worthless piece of shit child-rapist. There will be one that's a monument of how ugly and fat you are-- people can just freely wizz on that one. There'll be a monument of how gross your asshole mouth is-- people can shit in that one. See! Lots of monuments and some smart entrepreneur making bank.

[–] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

If you need to build a monument to yourself, you don't deserve a monument. Building a monument to yourself is like giving yourself a plaque for a lifetime achievement award. It means a lot if you receive it from an organization representing your profession. It means nothing if you just have a plaque made and put it in your wall.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

he lives in a house where in every wall here are dozens of such tags, look how happy he was after he got "his" nobel prize

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 14 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (2 children)

When he's out of office, Congress should pass a law that it's illegal to name anything after Trump, EXCEPT: Sewage Treatment Plants.

Then people who live near the plants can say things like "WOW, Trump is especially stinky today. Trump stinks much worse than usual."

The sad thing is that that's probably not true.
