Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Is that a screenshot of two screenshots, without context or explanation?

Yes. You're supposed to assume the worst and be outraged.

Engages pitchfork mode

The skeet they skoot was:

It is fucking infuriating (as a career developer advocate) to watch these smug dumbfucks condescend to anyone who doesn't mainline AI. It's okay, you're probably just too stupid to appreciate heroin

This apparently counted as four strikes, and they were suspended for 3 days as a result

Blue sky was never going to be good. It's like being surprised that the fresh mountain of shit is collecting flies.

Wow who could have seen this coming? Corporate social media doing evil things? I never would have thought.

On a side note... Who would have expected that a centralised app with a decentralised database is not going to abuse their power?

"But you can fork it!"

Yeah but I can also run a docker compose and point my nginx to it and oh it's a mastodon instance where I can truly feel at home!

With the likes of Dorsey, who backed this Bluesky thing, that was the death kiss given early (even though he left later on). He's on the Weird Little Guys Of FOSS and anyone who thought it would turn out different, Mastodon was always the answer sweeties.

finding out about rossman being transphobic is no surprise but geerling being a religious anti-abortion nutjob was devastating.

[–] LostWanderer@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

Yeah, Rossman always felt off to me...I couldn't place it because my hyperfixations got in the way of doing proper research on him. The cause is good but he is a nasty individual that I wouldn't support...Geerling, the nasty Catholic vibes are so intense I could smell them from my screen. I could sniff out his bullshit, it started when Practical Engineering declined to partner with him that it confirmed my innate suspicions of him being a despicable POS. I have dealt with too many overly religious, shitty white dudes to know them when I see them. There is a vibe, that they cannot hide no matter HOW hard they try. From that fake ass facade, often leaks a malodorous worldview that would've made their fictional Jesus slap the taste out of their collective mouths.

Another problem with Bluesky is there was the whole not deplatforming fascist or antisocial accounts, worse just hiding nazi and other nasty accounts behind a toggle. It was crazy work, I can't understand why you'd just let any horrible person just stroll in Bluesky and foul the digital furniture.

Somehow doesn't surprise me to see Prime on here, I used to be a regular viewer but there was always something off about him. Just like the page though I also can't really point to anything in particular.

[–] LostWanderer@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago

Prime, that was one that caught me sideways, he just seemed like a socially awkward dude rather than a not savory individual to me. I didn't watch him regularly, so that might have something to do with it. Regular watchers can probably tell more about that man than I ever could, I might have caught a once in a while video before I honestly stopped watching him. Maybe that was my subconscious telling me something, that his mustache wasn't clean.

I tried it for like a month. I dipped as soon as they capitulated to the demands of the Turkish government.

[–] RustyNova@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I personally only bridge my posts to it. If they starts really being shitty (like twitter) I'll disconnect it.

TBF I only bridge for the convenience of my followers. I do not like how this whole app/protocol is handled

Snagged the images:

Oh weird. It definitely was there before, just as shown in the screenshot in the OP.

Has it been deleted or something?
