They need to offer it to Mexico too, just to really piss off Trump.

Then we can start referring to North America as "Western Europe". Just need someone to keep him distracted with a map and a sharpie

Especially because it'll divide the "patriots" from the white supremacists who want to be called "Western Europeans" for skin color and not European progressive policy.

Like, it's not hard to make a bunch of idiots start fighting each other.

Hostile to whom? Both Canada and the EU seem to be mutually friendly.

It's the abusive partner "logic" - when the other person refuses to be a victim, they're "being hostile".

Oh for sure. It's the same logic applied when you beat your wife, so she leaves you for your neighbor. It's obviously the neighbor who ruined your marriage. Wife as well, because a part of you knew she would cheat, because leaving you is obviously cheating, and that justifies the violence.

How long until he starts complaining about "NATO bases near US borders"?

This really parallels the situation with Russia not wanting Ukraine to join the EU. Are we the baddies? Sadly, effectively, yes the current US administration are the baddies.

Trump threatens when you're friendly and cooperative with him. He threatens when you walk away. At this point it's just background noise.

Threatening to invade Canada: not hostile

    Canadian cooperation with EU: hostile

I think the EU has been threatened by far better people.

The guy in war with the whole world speak about 'hostile'.

He would say: no one knows hostile better than me.

Trump wants to annex Canada. In his delusions he thought he could force it to happen by applying economic pressure despite everyone expect his inner circle of sycophants told him. Now that he's realizing that it's not going to happen he's throwing a tantrum.

He likes to throw threats around because his dementia makes him believe that if he says something and looks "threatening" enough everyone will obey but... what he's failing to realise he is the American version of the Roman emperor Nero and soon after the empire fell and even though he is "in charge" of one of the most powerful countries in the world he doesn't really have the power he believes he has.

The quoted 'hostile' in the headline seems like it should be part of what Trump said, but the article doesn't include any quote like that. This is all the Trump quotes it's got:

US President Donald Trump has threatened to cut trade with the EU or impose "very serious tariffs" after the bloc proposed to make Canada its first ever "associate member".

He called the prospect of Canada joining the EU “laughable” and called Canada a “terrible trade partner".

“If it’s a good intention, that’s fine. If it’s a bad intention, we’ll put very heavy tariffs on Europe,” Trump said.
