Fake: If you were texting while driving in 2004, you were likely using the 10 digit keypad on a flip phone.

Gay: gay marriage wasn’t legal in 2004

Physical buttons are the only way to type blind though, I still know the numpad layout by heart.

Youre either pretty young and never used numpad texting, or kinda old and never got used to it.

Mate anyone worth their salt could speed text on a t9 blindfolder under their desk and the teacher or police would never notice!

It gets to the point where you even learned the order of suggested word list. 73647 ->three down. The travisty when you used a word ever so more often and the order would change suddenly.

At least with a physical numpad people could text without ever looking at their phones.

Is it that much of a leap to think they texted either in a traffic jam or even when they arrived at work after hearing this on the radio?

I’m all for being sceptical, but T9 texting could be pretty quick.

I don't get your point about it being fake. Why would a 10key phone preclude texting while driving?

and i don't get why it has to be gay marriage anyway? the post indicates nothing about the gender of either person.

The joke is that 4chan anon posts are “fake and gay.” Which comes from how 4chan users themselves respond to eachother on their own board. So one response to these as a joke is to point out why they are fake and why they are gay. Since it’s a dumb joke, if you start applying logic to the explanation of course it breaks down.

Well, yeah. It's why I cross posted. If you find wholesome content on Lemmy, showing it here is a great thing. I don't mind wading through the swamp that is a 4chan green text community to curate a bit of wholesome content when I find it.

Text your partner that you love them. Always great advice.
