Trans rights are human rights, and all humans should be safe from needing to live in Ohio.

A large number of early American astronauts were from Ohio creating the perception that Ohio was such a miserable place that they preferred the cold, empty voids of Space to the trash heap that is Ohio.

Its full of farm fields, and there aren't really any tourist attractions or interesting cultural features there, so it has a reputation for being really boring.

Also, being quite rural, there are a ton of republicans and billboards that tell you you're going to go to hell.

It used to be a fairly strong representation of the American Heartland; farming, manufacturing, mining, etc. Then manufacturing collapsed, the steel towns died, the jobs moved elsewhere, and it's basically a very rundown shell of a state.

And because of that, the people who still live there hate everyone else (especially 'libruls', who Fox News tells them are the ones responsible) and are miserable to be around (I have family there).

It's the wet sock of our states. It's the paper cut in the webbing of your finger. It's the fart you gambled on and lost.

I spent a short amount of time in Ohio and had a strong urge to leave and never come back. Nothing super specific but just a general feeling that it was not a place I should be.

I personally like being in Ohio. I went to NYC once and was happy to come back to dear Cincinnati... for my chili.

Its like the perfect milquetoast state. Weather is fine and not deadly most of the time, people are okay when they arent Republican, we're populated enough to have things to do in the three cities, and everytime a famous person is from here we point at the screen and get excited :3

Interestingly, Ohio is one of the only states (if not the only state) with multiple metropolises which are almost all exactly the same size.

California has a bunch of cities, the difference between LA, SanFran, SanDiego, are pretty significant. Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati are all within a few 10k of each other.

I wish I had a good reason. I sound like Lovecraft (not the racist part) trying to describe my feelings about Ohio. Unexplainable dread washed over me as soon as we entered toledo and didn't leave till I hit west Virginia. I've traveled through and camped in rural areas in 31 different states and the vibes were just off in Ohio. It was like a combination of Get Out and Deliverance

Back when Ohio and Michigan were about to become states, they had a feud over Toledo. This led to the Toledo war, where both Michigan and Ohio mobilized their militias. We have not forgiven each other ever since

Ohio is America's armpit with absolutely no redeeming features, and has a longstanding rivalry with the Queen of The Midwest, Michigan (Michigan got the Upper Peninsula, God's Country, and Ohio got stuck with Toledo).

Ohio is the Russia of America, if Russia sucked a bit more.

I have to move to Ohio this spring unfortunately :(

On the bright side I get to hang out with my friend for the first time in a few years.

Real talk; its not that bad. Its perfectly fine but memeable. As a transwoman, i very easily got hormones without insurance within 3 days, so wahoo.

    There is mainly corn, though.

There was recently a Shein fast fashion pop-up shop in Ohio at some sort of shopping festival, and everyone who left without buying anything was given the stink-eye. That's all I know about Ohio right now.
