The "wie just trained in it" argument is such bullshit. If I learned to paint by copying making my own Mickey Mouse comics just for my own pleasure, that would be fine. But If I then started selling them Disney would sue the hell out of me. The same standards shpuld apply to AI companies.

Please do. We need to do this for copyleft. I'm surprised FSF and SFC haven't already start going at these companies in defence of copyleft. Copyright I'm a bit sceptical all as it's really about enrichment of the owner, copyleft is about the enrichment of the commons. But it's all the same law.
They can't even hide behind the "we did not copy it, we just trained on it". If any human artist (who has seen many artists works in his or her life) would just create a Gruffalo image (or an image of a Disney princess) and sell it, this artist could be sued for copyright infringement.
And if they lose, does that mean I can make Mickey Mouse do terrible things like a … hmm.
Spin the Mouse South Park style sounds intersting. I could use AI then and get almost uncanny valley and it’d be okay, right?
Using free AI is breaking these companies. Funny enough, I read an article with Altman commenting on the problem. He said even their new $200 tier was costing them. Imagine what free image generation is costing.
I was hoping Batman would make exceptions for irony
