If a person plays as an opposite-gender character, it's because they secretly wish to be that gender and are therefore trans.

If a person plays as a same-gender character, it's because they like looking at same-gender ass and are therefore gay.

There are no other options.

Trollface

If they somehow find a third option anyway, that just mean's they're a furry.

[–] Transtronaut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

On the one hand, this is funny. On the other hand, this is exactly the kind of humor that led to me repressing my gender identity. I feel so conflicted.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That's the neat part: you can't repress your gender identity because 'straight' wasn't an option!

(Unless you actually are straight, but whatever -- it won't kill us to be the ones who have to just fuckin' deal with it, for once!)

(Seriously though, my intent was to be funny in an inclusive way, not a repressive way. Apologies if I missed the mark!)

No wonder when given the option, I have male heads on female bodies...

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

does it change anything if its a female head on a male body?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 2 months ago

Reverse Furry. You are a real anthropomorphic animal, but you wish you were human.

[–] Pondis@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I usually play a female character, because if im going to stare at an ass for 120 hours, it might as well be a nice ass.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Exactly my philosophy. Also the whole "escape reality" bit. I also like RPGs where I can be an immortal skeleton or a lizard prince (ok, both of those examples were actually just Divinity: Original Sin 2).

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago

if you find yourself playing games as an immortal skeleton or a lizard prince, you may not be entirely human. join my community and see if you relate to being a skeleton or lizard 😃

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm hardcore hetero on the Kinsey Scale, but I've always played females. Fuck it, I've been a male every day of my life and games are there to escape reality (for me anyway).

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you need a way to escape reality and you choose to be a girl, you might not be as male or hetero as you think, Just sayin...🥚 🏳️‍⚧️

You can keep saying it, but that doesn't make it true. Trying to force someone to be trans is just as bad as trying to force someone to be straight shame on you.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago

I'm not forcing anyone to be trans. I'm encouraging them to see their signs for what they are. The whole forcing people to be trans is TERF bullshit based on the idea that we're transing the kids.

My character looks exactly like I do, though.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 2 months ago

The gender is tied to the role for me. Male warrior, female assassin, male wizard, female ranger, male anyone with a gun, female thief.

Its about picking the gender that best fits the vibe of the character. The character is in mind their own person and also never represents me.

All this doesnt matter since I'm picking a warrior 99% of the time became i hate wizards and sneaky folk.

[–] MiniMoose4Free@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Forcing trans ideals on folks because of the character they play is one of the reason the cheeto bandito won... just stop it its toxic as fuck.

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 1 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Why would I want to look at a dudes ass in third person for 120 hours?

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hey, we're not here to judge. You can look at dude-ass to your heart's content.

[–] captainjaneway@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

If they keep stacking em, I'll keep packin, em.

[–] rimjob_rainer@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Don't you romance dudes as a female character?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Only when it's necessary for the plot

I don't like ruining my 100% lesbian runs

[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

120 hours

Commander Shephard?

[–] django@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I heard this several times and it confuses me a lot. Are you actually looking at the backside of the character instead of the rest of the game?

[–] Goretantath@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Depends on how much you have to dodge and how much your character is in your peripheral.

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee -1 points 2 months ago

Honestly, confuses me as well. I'm all for playing whatever gender you want to, but looking at polygons in the shape of a human ass is... different for sure.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago

Dude you can't get a decent stealth bonus wearing come-fuck-me-boots no matter how hard you abuse the crafting system.

[–] dumpsterac1d@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Several bro justifications in here however this has lead to thousands of cracked eggs and it's only a matter of time fellas

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago

Lots of people make excuses, but if they really sat down and thought about it without any internalized transphobia they'd realize it's actually because they want to be a girl more than anything else.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I played as the opposite gender one (1) time in 2010, to hear the novelty of the female VA for the protagonist in a fully voiced game after two runs as the male protagonist, and I haven't stopped since. RIP me 😔

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry sister, it gets easier eventually 🫂 🏳️‍⚧️

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Preferring to play female characters does not make someone trans, jfc.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago

It doesn't make someone trans, but it is a strong sign they likely are trans...

[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My wife plays as a male and I play as a female. When we were playing wow, random male characters would drop me 100gold at a time. This is when we were very early into wow and we just started getting silvers.

[–] suite403@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Star Wars Galaxies I would leave my character dancing in a cantina and come back to thousands of tips in credits.

[–] gerryflap@feddit.nl 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I tend to play female characters. Only because of the smaller hitbox tho, definitely not for other reasons.

:3

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I like girls so much I became one in real life 🏳️‍⚧️

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I think it's very likely you're trans and there's nothing wrong with that, it's important to come out and accept yourself and realize that these are signs you might not be as cis as you thought you were.

Check out !egg_irl@lemmy.blahaj.zone and !traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns@lemmy.ca and see if you relate to anything there. If you do, you're probably not entirely cis 🏳️‍⚧️

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You must follow the Egg Prime Directive. You may not push or coerce people into identifying or not identifying a certain way. You must respect them as the gender they claim to identify as. In addition it is extremely in poor taste to make assumptions about other people’s identities based on external factors, we understand it cannot be helped but it is best not to as it can affect the way you treat others in noticeable ways.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago

Don't quote that gatekeeping garbage to me, I'm not pushing or coercing anyone of being trans. No trans person does that. That's TERF garbage meant to try and villify trans people for existing or being supportive of other trans and questioning people.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I've just come to the conclusion that my digital persona is a woman. I'm a cis hetero man in real life though. Not really any questions about it. But even in VR, I just exist as a lady.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Have you ever considered being a lady in real life?

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I don't think that's an unreasonable question! But no, I have not. I'm very comfortable in my own body as it was given to me.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's reasonable, but not everyone has gender dysphoria. There are some people who are comfortable as they are but would be blissfully happy and euphoric as the opposite gender, without even knowing it.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

That's true.
