There are a few podcasts like that I think. Notably Hello from the Magic tavern. A sitcom, even animated, would be pretty cool!
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Yeah, animated is probably the way to go. Few sitcoms are going to get the budget for the costumes and makeup to not look dorky.
This is one of the things What We Do In The Shadows got right.
For real, when they used effects, they were always way better than expected.
Ooh, gonna have to check that one out! 😁
It would be called "Hail!"
Addendum: The local vintner who supplies the tavern is a genial bullywug named Jeremiah who no one quite understands.
This is an idea like the Big Kat from KitKat.
So damn obvious and fucking cool, that you wonder why you didn’t think of it first…
The Goliath at the end of the bar is a happy genial sort, his comically oversized tankard is a source of recurring jokes
"Hale and well-met, everybody."
"Nørmr!"
"What would you say to an ale, there, Nørmr?"
"I'd say 'Make peace with the spirits of your ancestors, for you shall soon greet them in Valhalla.'"
I guess he needs a courier buddy full of bad trivia.
You take your average dragon's intestines and stretch 'em out? You're lookin' at eh... three leagues and change.
Voiced by John Ratzenberger of course.
Jesus christ I actually need this.
One of my favorite Japanese dramas, Isekai Izakaya Nobu, based on an anime of the same name, has a plot kind of like this. Lots of fun.
A bespectacled kenku wizard enters, "ah Dr Crane how've ya been".
"Very well Nørmr, thank you for asking"
So then is Lilith a harpy or a succubus?
Oh definitely a Harpy
She's hot as fuck
Spider Robinson wrote some books about that place.
Callahan’s!
I played a RPG in IRC back in high school that was essentially just that. Like 90% of the game was just hanging out in the tavern just talking about in-world politics and drama.
