I’d like to see a homegrown website again. Lemmy.ie would be cool, but with hopefully a better name than that. It’s a lot of work to run one, though: both on the technical side and the content moderation side.

I'm tempted to set one up, but I probably don't have the money.
And crowd sourcing finances - even if the support is there - is a whole project in itself.
I don't know if we can capture what we had when these sites were well run and well populated, but it could be a haven away from the hyper Americanised / Anglo internet that intrudes on us these days.
