Or....its the German word for children

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 71 points 3 days ago (2 children)

While yes, Happy Tree Friends is probably not for kids despite how it might look

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 26 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I kinda think it was made with the intention kids would be exposed to it by mistake.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And I’m a 40-year old adult who knows exactly what Happy Tree Friends is, and I’m noping the hell away from it.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

La la lalala, la la lalala..

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago

Quite possibly, it was rather popular in my middle school and I think MCR or some other popular band did a music video with them.

[–] Xande@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

German media company managers are still think "Oh it's a cartoon, it must be for children!" No, they haven't hear the shot...

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 days ago

I reckon OP realized that but was more amused by the literal gore cartoon in the Kinder section and the title of the post is an entirely separate joke

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The German words on the sign in the background support your observation

fuck, you’re right

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I don't envy you after letting your kid watch happy tree friends. Good luck with the nightmares.

[–] Yareckt@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 days ago

No, that would be Bratzen

It's a big country in Europe with a lot of people in it. But that's not important right now.

[–] Texas_Hangover@sh.itjust.works 52 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My daughter happened upon Happy tree friends at about 4 or 5 years old lol. She absolutely loved it, and there was no taking it away. Luckily she was born with the ability to realize the difference between real life and make believe, and she turned out just fine.

Ffs, she's only messily killed 2 of her friends. And one of those was an accident.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 days ago

She was definitely not born with that ability...

[–] Korne127@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Someone's about to get trauma

[–] PieMePlenty@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

You mean a core memory?

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 38 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I mean, Grimm’s Fairy Tales are similar levels of absurd violence lol

[–] Pechente@feddit.org 11 points 3 days ago

Or google Struwwelpeter if you wanna see what German kids are exposed to. Happy tree friends is tame in comparison.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It honestly isn't a show that I think an adult is likely to watch.

Somebody's grandma is gonna buy that for their grandson and the cycle will continue

Am... Am I on speaker!?

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh I miss those cartoons a lot, we watched it with friends and we couldn’t stop laughing all the time.

[–] sonoro@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You fellas laughed about the poor animals dying?!! :d

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

All day long. The mix of cute animals and the nonchalant gore plus funny noises was peak comedy. Probably among the best stuff on YouTube ever.

[–] thespcicifcocean@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

ah, another man of culture, i see.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes, the thinking man’s “R-worded Animal Babies”

[–] Rolive@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago

A is for ASS!

[–] Memetic@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Now this is a true schizer post.

Scheißpfosten*

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ummm wtf get played on that? I’m scared what it could be.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cartoon Animals getting ripped apart by various means. Accidentally walking into a wood chipper, jumping into a barrel of razorwire, etc. pretty graphic.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Not to mention hilarious.
