I’ve worked in factories for the bulk of my life…be at your work station for a certain time, don’t be on the toilet too much, don’t talk too much, always be doing something even though you’re on target, managers or team leaders or whatever micromanaging you. It’s fucking wank.

Let me get this right... They want to roll back regulations, protections, & pay but now want us to work at the American factories so that manufacturing can come to the US. At that point might as well go live & work in Vietnam, Mexico or wherever else. At least there inflation isn't as much as a problem so you can still afford a place to live.

That's what public education trains young minds to be. Builders and maintainers of the infrastructure.
...Which is not the worst thing in the world if they're treated and compensated fairly.

To be fair, someone has to do it.

Are you suggesting that you're not good at being a slave but you can be a slave master?
These companies are making a bank out of planned obsolescence, and they can do so because their workers are cheap.
In a throwaway culture, you do not want to be a generic factory worker, because your time and efforts will be worth almost nothing.
It doesn't have to be this way, but cheap labor from places like China has enabled this culture. If you don't want to be a slave, you have to change that culture.
Edit: As others have said, certain classes of people will be exempt from having to work in factories in his mind. It's not this bastard's children or grandchildren he is referring to of course.
But not his kids or any of the administration's kids.
