A caste system at the very least

[–] njordomir@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Yeah, bet this guy doesn't go to the factory floor when his term is over.

You will slave for your neo-feudal overlords or you'll be sent to prison, where you'll slave for your neofeudal overlords.

Or you'll die. That's okay too.

I’ve worked in factories for the bulk of my life…be at your work station for a certain time, don’t be on the toilet too much, don’t talk too much, always be doing something even though you’re on target, managers or team leaders or whatever micromanaging you. It’s fucking wank.

What a shocker. The old way is new again. Too bad His forefathers sold it all down the river for profit in the 70's and 80's. They can only move in reverse. Kinda sad and somehow they think it will work.

And he wants your children your grandchildren to start working immediately

Let me get this right... They want to roll back regulations, protections, & pay but now want us to work at the American factories so that manufacturing can come to the US. At that point might as well go live & work in Vietnam, Mexico or wherever else. At least there inflation isn't as much as a problem so you can still afford a place to live.

[–] MrSilkworm@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

So pensionplan and healthcare for life right? You gonna roll back the rules we want the benefits.

[–] WatDabney@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Serfs get the benefit of living in a hovel on their lord's manor so long as they continue to work to expand their lord's fortune.

Or if they're not willing to do that, they get the benefit of a burial.

living in a hovel

That's more than I've got.

heads in loops is the new new model.

That’s what happens when we lionize “job creators” because we think that is the same as “wealth creators”

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'm good, thanks.

That's what public education trains young minds to be. Builders and maintainers of the infrastructure.

...Which is not the worst thing in the world if they're treated and compensated fairly.
But they won't be, of course.

[–] lettruthout@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (3 children)

To be fair, someone has to do it.

[–] eskimofry@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

the people who suggest this always excuse themselves out of doing it.

Are you suggesting that you're not good at being a slave but you can be a slave master?

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

But not his kids or any of the administration's kids.

These companies are making a bank out of planned obsolescence, and they can do so because their workers are cheap.

In a throwaway culture, you do not want to be a generic factory worker, because your time and efforts will be worth almost nothing.

It doesn't have to be this way, but cheap labor from places like China has enabled this culture. If you don't want to be a slave, you have to change that culture.

Edit: As others have said, certain classes of people will be exempt from having to work in factories in his mind. It's not this bastard's children or grandchildren he is referring to of course.

One of the key things about this administration is that they don't believe everyone should live, or have a good life. They're not trying to do the right thing for most people, because they believe only the elite few (themselves) deserve to live, and live well. They see everyone else as a lesser kind of being, and a disposable resource for their own use. Quite a lot of people they would prefer to kill or let die. This is fundamental to how fascists think. So when they enact policies that will make life worse for people or cause people to die, they just don't care. The only ones worth taking care of are themselves, because they're just better.
