There is the side plot where Harry goes on a date with the fishing village woman. It doesn't lead to anything, iirc both Harry and the woman are still hung up on their lost exes, and it's probably the most real-feeling romance side plot in any game.

from what i'm hearing the game is still moddable with the original modkit but several elements don't work as they should.

god damn imagine if Bethesda was still cool and they actually remade their engine from the ground up using UE5 as a base and the Oblivion remaster was a tech demo for their new next gen RPG engine that would be so cool but instead we get UE5 as a janky layer on top of gamebryo.

same i feel like watching this game now all i can think about is how miserable it used to make me and how i payed probably a thousand or two dollars on skins for it.

For a "cinematic" persuasion minigame, Deus Ex Human Revolution's is so good and nobody has ever done anything similar (although maybe you could consider LA Noir's conversations an evolution of that idea).

For anything else if you're not cribbing Fallout1/2/NV (I consider Disco Elysium an advancement of that idea) then you are wasting my time. Just let me pick at character creation between being nice, sarcastic, or an asshole - we all know it doesn't matter anyway.

There was this one game I played once that left an impression on me but I can't remember the name at all. It was set in a Nordic country in medieval times, it had a top down view of 2D sprites, and it had a super hardcore survival simulation. I remember chopping down a tree taking multiple in game hours (depending on your skill and tools) and a big focus being put on starting and keeping your campfire going in order to stave off hypothermia.

Hey I remember this! There was a very specific computer, I think when I was in third or fourth grade, that had this and Spy Fox on it and I played the piss out of both of them while waiting for my mom to pick me up from school.

Spending a week unable to use the internet because all of my bandwidth is being used up by Steam is the best part of any new release.

Oblivion "Remastered" is just going to be Oblivion with AI-upscaled textures. Maybe new voice work since the original game's is so bad. They will fix half of the bugs that are fixed in the most recent version of the community patch, and introduce a dozen more.

TES 6 will never release. It isn't even in development. That JPEG everyone knows about wasn't actually revealed by Bethesda, it's a deepfake that we have all developed a collective hallucination around.

TBH I think mid budget and non major franchise movies are over in theaters. Streaming has simply devalued them too much. Time will tell if theaters can survive off blockbusters alone.
