Improv and theater helped me. Being able to roll with the situation and turn it into something fun or different has saved me from constant anxiety. I also channeled that Simpsons energy of Homer's First Day so when I fuck up I expect jeers and taunts, which I can handle, instead of outright anger. And being able to roll the taunt back into a burn or accept it as valid criticism helps drop the subject.

We had one cat and didn't expect a second but it was a conversation that we had started and expected that maybe the first cat was alone and sad when we left for work (in the long ago era of 2013, a pre pandemic life). Given that the shelter was locally well respected we took a look and, yeah, it's risky but that's the nature of impulse purchases!

Remember when Elon hit the new bullet proof Cyber truck windows and they didn't shatter? They should have made the whole truck out of that glass to make it more resistant to breaking.
