“myth of rugged individualism”,

A better name for that that, one which I apply to myself, is “toxic independence”. It covers more issues, I think, because it includes people who don’t see themselves as rugged individualists, but just ordinary people surviving as best they can.

Well, im already not reading most of your screed because you spoilered it and no thank you.

But also, I’m just not interested in this level of picking apart and negatively judging my tastes and gaming experience for absolutely no reason? wtf man? Don’t be an asshole.

Unfortunately have not been able to find that one on physical media when I could afford it, but I’m at the point where pirating the rest that I couldn’t get is fine since they were all bought used, as they would be now (I don’t buy digital games, as a rule) and the devs get $0 from me either way. Plus these are so old now..

I’d suggest doing fun parallel playthroughs ‘together’ since you haven’t done arise and I haven’t done abyss, but idk how well that’d go over :)

Symphonia is definitely aged, yeah. That’s a kind way to phrase it. But so am I, so I can still appreciate it for what it was meant to be. I remember the competition on ps1. Lara croft had triangle tits, it wasn’t a great time for character models.

I umm.. leave my house as infrequently as possible.

But if my dad’s partner wants care long term she can let me move in and split her house in half and..

Leave the basement as infrequently as possible. (But with more chickens)

Jk (?), if I start to take over her property, I’m keeping it. She’s got multiple humans worth of generational income, and the more I have the more I can give to people for free!

I’ve been getting into weird shit like this, and based on your comment, there’s a better than even chance you can give me some recommendations.

I’ve seen existenz and together and probably some others that count. But I’m open to whatever you think is worth it!

I took a single fuse out of my 2023 chevy bolt and it disabled all that shit. There’s an onstar module behind the infotainment screen that appears to be pretty easy to disable if you want to keep gps and thus location-based charging active. I personally don’t care about that, so fuse was plenty.

It’s also just a very basic vehicle overall, with physical buttons for most stuff (so touchscreen doesn’t get used much while driving), which I like coming from a 2012 honda civic. The only real modern thing it seems to have other than infotainment is the backup camera, and that’s a decade old requirement already.

Also, if it matters to you, chevy bolt runs on open source software. You can audit it right on your dash panel, if you so choose.

Edit: looks like there’s a fork of openpilot for it as well for mostly self-driving? Idk if I’d trust that, but kinda neat. I thought it was a fork of the OS, but its not.

I have a bruins jersy with an incorrect letter.

Instead of saying “Chara” it says “Ghara”.

Hard to notice, especially since I very rarely wear it, but does work as a conversation starter if anyone happens to notice.

I’ve come across a dozen projects in the past month or so that I’m genuinely interested in looking further into, riiiiiiiiiight up until I hear about the AI in it.

I don’t comment about it or anything, just back out of the thread and tag the poster as a vibe coder and move on.

If I wanted something vibe coded, I could have a model generate it for me and tweak it to my liking at least as well as some random shmuck on the internet. Thats not what I’m interested in. I want stuff people understand enough to fix problems, and that means largely human written.

I have several games/vr spaces I would love to make, but they would require using AI (I don’t know shit about coding or development, and don’t particularly want to learn tbh, its a huge entry barrier that I won’t be hurdling any time soon) so they simply aren’t going to happen, just like the pre-clanker days. If I’m not even willing to put in the work for my idea, its probably not that good an idea to begin with. And that’s the same way I feel about vibe coders.
