This feels more like it's about the light bulb than the lamp.

Lamps tend to last a lot longer than light bulbs and, maybe I'm old school, but they tend not to have much of a circuit in them. In fact the bulb is what completes it and the lamp usually has a wire and a switch. That's not going to break easily.

... and modern LED bulbs do tend to have some kind of logic circuit in them to regulate current, putting another score for the bulb theory.

    Yeah and when you spend enough time staring at black light posters (to stay on theme), you realize the distinctions are much blurrier than you thought, man.

    I hope this lamp has some comforting epiphanies when he learns that the powerplant providing his electricity is run by oxidizing carbon atoms whose oxidation state was reduced by the same sun that he admires.
