Actually, you can take a good pic of the moon, set your aperture to f11, then your iso and shutter speed to about 200 and 1/200s, try and adjust as needed. Also a decent telephoto lens helps of course.

Idk if you can do that on a phone, but with a "real" camera it can be done for sure and they actually come out pretty OK.

    f11 is the opposite of open and unless it is daytime nothing will be visible except for the moon. That is one of these issues, the big dynamic range.
