You should purposely misspell it from time to time to ..... homo

And when people point it out, just apologize and say it was a typo .... be very apologetic and sincere and even offer to send cupcakes to them for the inconvenience (include some mild laxative in the cupcake .... and alternate to cannabis the next time it happens)

“homo ass” is short for hom(e) o(wners) ass(ociation)

“homo” is for short for hom(e) o(wner)

I used to work in a place with people who's title was Program Analyst. And in all the HR/IT systems they were always shown as PROG ANAL next to their name and photo.

I was 100% expecting “Pro Anal” when I read “program analyst”.

If you are in an HOA you already fucked up.

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Getting decent housing that isn't in an HOA in some regions is a privilege a lot of people don't have. At least they were still able to attain some homeownership.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If someone can kick you out of your house because you painted your fence the wrong color then you don't own your house.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Why is everything in the US so damn weird? We don't have HOAs over here.

[–] SwingingTheLamp@midwest.social 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Usually, the answer is racism. In the case of HOAs, though, I'm going to guess that it's probably racism.

ETA: I looked it up on Wikipedia. The answer is: racism.

Americans are dumb.

I live in the "hood" and I have no HOA.

Fuck them "whites only" redlining neighborhoods where you don't even have freedom.

Btw it isn't even that bad as depicted on TV, they over-exaggerate everything. I still alive after a decade, haven't personally known anyone that died to homicide. The upside is that there aint any nazis around here at least, so for me as a non-white its actually safer than those racist-ass neighborhoods. As long as I don't go near drugs or gangs and I'm fine. And also remember to stay away from pigs.

I was so shocked when I learned that in the same country that gives guns to children because muH FrEedOmS, you cannot let your lawn grow out on your own property because some Karen down the road doesn't like the way it looks.

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Like everything in life, not all HOAs are the same. There's definitely a bias surrounding them, because people who live in good ones don't complain every time they're mentioned.

Confidently incorrect

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But how hard is it to turn a good one bad? You really just need one or two people with money and nothing to do.

Tomo means friend in Japanese (友), so my bilingual ass would probably go the other direction and end up interpreting her messages to be more cheery than intended.

"Tomo the street sweeper is coming through so don't forget to park in your driveways."

"Tomo we are holding our annual HOA elections; make sure to attend!"

"Trash pickup was days ago, so don't let me catch your cans out tomo."

[–] KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago (4 children)

At least you don't have a co-worker that messages you Happy Fri-yay! and Happy Fri-yay eve!

Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays

If I had a coworker like that, I'd begin to understand Ted Kaczynski more

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 13 points 1 week ago

How well do you understand him at this time?

I've never seen that either but I like it more. Not much more but it's a low bar.

This didn't deserve a laugh, but it got one. Well played

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

Good! For a second I was worried people were gonna think I was tomophobic.

The horrific story of "Megan and the HOA Murder" tomo night on True Crime.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

I know I'm getting older but this would bother me as well. It seems like a terrible way to shorten the word in my head. I think my brain just doesn't like vowels and wants words to be shortened to end with consonants. Things like HOA make sense because they are all individual words.

Slay Megan. Literally slay girl.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Tomo pomo ("see you tomorrow, postmodernist").

All I need to be featured on a crime show is otherwise intelligent, educated people who type "u" in place of "you". The only thing that can make someone seem dumber is a backwards baseball cap.

Is it still a true crime if it gets dismissed as justified?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now I would like to see a show that is similar to one of those crime shows, but features only justifiable homicide.
