Yeah. It always throws me through a loop when people complain about ads in websites I post.
post
My BIL asked me how I was streaming sports so I sent him the site and he complained that the site i sent him to had a bunch of ads. I always forget there are people in the year of our lord 2026 who still don't use ad blockers. I thought web condoms were widespread by now.
I haven’t been getting many ads, but I have been having trouble with webpages that break themselves when an ad element doesn’t load on the page. Urban dictionary comes to mind. Would love to hear if someone has a workaround for that
Not seeing them for uBlockOrigin Lite and I just checked the site expecting a break. What blocker on what device?
I’m using Wipr 2 on iOS. The error is an iframe timeout. A lot of recipie websites do it too, same error type which is definitely intentional because it directs you to disable Adblock.
Try installing UblockOriginLite (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ublock-origin-lite/id6745342698) That should cover it like I’m seeing. If not try reporting it to the Wipr2 dev if you prefer that, she responds fast usually.
urban dictionary is ridiculously badly programmed
Until last year there was a major XSS vulnerability where anyone could write a definition that ran arbitrary JavaScript in the user's browser upon loading
Definitions like this could show up in random search results
Would love to hear if someone has a workaround for that
Use Wiktionary instead, it’s better anyway. 😉
ublock origin = normal brain
ublock origin after learning filter xhr script 1p 3p from to syntax = galaxy brain
I was ready to jump ship after Google pushed manifest v2 extensions out of their webstore for good 2 weeks ago, but I decided to give uBlock Origin Lite a chance, and it's surprisingly capable. So far I haven't seen the difference between full fat uBO besides extra tools like being able to only disable Javascript on a page for example - that was a very neat feature I do miss. But adblocking-wise it's doing just as well.
