Unironically, the Soviet Union. I've herd that anthem a thousand times as a joke, but you know, it kinda slaps.
Obviously I'm just talking about the arrangement and music because I've no idea what the lyrics mean.

France fucks, any anthem about glorious dead and cunting monarchs in to the sun is immediately S tier.
Sincerely, F tier UK.
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons !
(May impure blood
Water our furrows!)
Can't see anyone misinterpreting that.
Don't get me wrong, the Marseillaise slaps, but it does have some slighltly problematic aspects.
I'm pretty sure that's about basting potatoes in too much butter.
I've always liked Canada
I'm a huge fan of O Canada. Always enjoyed catching hockey games where one of the Canadian teams came down and so I'd get to hear it. Also enjoyed seeing games up in Montreal and getting the Francophonian version.
Fuck all the war songs, Slovenia's anthem is a drinking song called The Toast if I remember correctly.
The full song is 8 verses long and all of them are in the shape of a wine cup, and the seventh verse is our national anthem. The entire song mainly talks about drinking which mostly sums up Slovenia :D
And our anthem sings about peace among all nations not just ours which is rare I would say.
Exactly. But only the part where it talks about peace anong nations is the official anthem
Brazil has a very complicated, beautiful and long national anthem. Its great and all but using such difficult words and being so long means most people here don't know the full song much less understand its meaning.
Funnily enough, I memorized and can sing the italian hymn because of my middle school, but can't sing the full national anthem from my own country
Not Australia. I can assure you
You don't want to be girt by sea?
I'm glad at least that it's secular and inclusive. At least, the modern lyrics are - the original are a cringe product of their time.
I vote we move to You're The Voice by John Farmham.
Ukraine's national anthem is definitely up there. Part of the reason is that it's writen by an actual songwriter instead of a poet, unlike the anthems of most western nations
France and the Netherlands have war songs for their national anthems that are pretty good.
I don't know about France, but the Dutch anthem is not only a war song, it actually makes a lot of fun of Spain. As that was the enemy in the war the song is about. Which is always lots of fun during soccer matches against spain
The Soviet Union
Mexico, hands down. If you grew up in San Diego and listens to cool radio, you heard this twice a day and it slaps!
It's not the best by a very big margin. But whenever I get up wasted after a night of partying and have a look at the mirror, I hear the anthem of long gone eastern Germany.
Auferstanden aus Ruinen Und der Zukunft zugewandt...
Risen from ruins And turned toward the future...
Romania
Note: I am not Romanian
The lyrics start with something like "Awaken from your graves and kill those barbaric tyrants".
I'm a fan of the old East German anthem if that counts.
Also shout out to Azerbaijan for possibly the most metal anthem.
I was stationed in Japan with the US military between 2002-2005 and every evening at 5 PM, the Japanese and American national anthems would play on speakers across our base, signaling the end of the work day.
We were required to stop what we were doing and listen quietly and respectfully for both anthems. If we were outside, we'd have to stand at parade rest and face the nearest country flags we could see, or face toward the music if there were no flags visible nearby. When the American national anthem played, we had to snap to attention and salute for the entire song.
The Japanese national anthem is probably not my favorite ever national anthem, but I heard it every day for over 3 years and the hauntingly beautiful anthem has forever planted itself in my brain. It's so calm and smooth compared to the almost militaristic march of the American anthem.
You would think the Caribbean national anthems would be straight choonz.
But they all kept the colonizer anthems. Which suck.
Not even a marimba in sight.
The Italian anthem sung at the top of their lungs by the entire Ferrari crew after a win at Monza.
I have vague memories of playing Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road (1990) as a kid.
My country of choice was solely based on liking one of the anthems, but sadly I do not remember which one. Was Australia or New Zealand am option? I feel like it was one of those.
EDIT: Upon doing some research (watching YouTube videos), I think it may have been New Zealand. Still not sure if that was available in my game, but that's still my final answer. Australia is pretty cool too, so you aussies and kiwies can fight it out amongst yourselves - Knowing you, you already are anyway.
One of the best anthems in one of the best scenes followed by one of the best deadpan jokes In one of the best movies.
i'll go with spain, since there's no lyrics
American Dad. Oh wait you meant country?
East germany and the EU.
Both make me hopeful for the future eventhough i know what is coming!
I get jealous every ANZAC day when they play the New Zealand national anthem. So good.
And they have their Mauri language right there too.
Romania's is an underrated banger, in my opinion.
I think we in the US should change our anthem to The Most Unwanted Song. It really captures our vibe right now as a nation.
