Ok so this is a bit odd but hear me out. Whenever I have older family members or neighbors over my house, I always find pee on the toilet seat, floor, and wall next to my toilet. It happens without fail, and it’s always boomers.

When I have friends over (Millenial age) this is never a problem. The bathroom is always much cleaner and the guys are always fine, even after a few drinks.

But boomer guys? Straight blasting bootstrap piss. It’s crazy.

Anyone else notice this?

It doesn't happen when its just you? Do they put the top toilet seat down when they flush? Its possible (but unfortunately unlikely) that the toilet splashed water on the seat after flushing. Still not an excuse.

You should ask them! Maybe they'll start thinking about it.

I've had a few occasions where I've gone after someone who left droplets after themselves. I (discreetly) brought them into the bathroom and kindly asked them to please clean up so I can use the toilet. Perfect amount of shame having to clean it up while knowing I'm waiting, in dire need for a wee.

Never had to repeat myself either, but I don't invite or visit people who would have to hear that more than once. (Except for children and perhaps teenagers, they can need a few reminders if they insist on standing).

It's not just a boomer issue, it is also guys who grew up with somebody else doing the cleanup afterward.

Old can give you a non consistent stream, but a considerate old person would then wipe their spills.

But I had 30 year old friends stop by an spray everywhere. So I talked to them about sitting down to pee.

My coworkers wife told her husband "have your friends over any time for drinks, etc, but I'm not cleaning up any piss, so after your friends leave you have to completely clean the bathroom" He started to realize how gross men can be about pissing everywhere.

I think this is the answer, but peeing on the seat is another level of dysfunctional. Peeing standing up without lifting the seat is not ok even by guys-peeing-standing-up standards. And peeing on the seat while sitting down suggests another problem, and then if you have that problem, not wiping off the seat is even more inconsiderate than leaving a few splashes on the rim of the bowl itself. I have to wonder if some of these boomers have some dementia.

I think part of it is that the plumbing doesn't work quite as well as you get older (split stream, inconsistent stream, etc.). I know some millennial men who make the conscious choice to sit when they pee rather than stand. I think most of it is that boomer men have relied on a the labor of their moms and wives and never really learned to be anything but slobs.

I am pretty sure prostate issues can cause a pee stream that is more like the shower setting on a hose rather than jet. So given they are older maybe they have an enlarged one?

    The external urethral orifice?

It is usually a vertical slit. As the pee comes out as a vertical oriented stream it fluctuates between vertical and horizontal several times until reaching its target. However as you get older the per-hole shape changes shape and enlarges. Plus if you still have your glans it stretches due to daily use and abuse and such, so it interferes with the outgoing stream unless you pull it out of the way. Everyone learns to pull it out of the way. But if you're also "soft" pulling it out of the way is much harder than one could imagine. I'm not a doctor, I just got one of these things.

Well, it's a multi prong issue; there isn't a single cause, and not everyone shares the same combination of causes.

First is the obvious. Age related eye and coordination issues. As we age, some things don't keep it up like other traits can. And, worse, age related experience only counters it if the person applies said experience.

Second, you run into issues with the plumbing, as someone said in other comments. The prostate is a hell of an organ. But when it gets swollen, the stream gets sputtery. You also run into user error where you have to hold the thing different than when you're younger because the elasticity and thickness of skin changes. It's easier to accidentally apply pressure to the urethra. The typical two or three finger grip can apply more pressure than is good when the skin isn't as resilient.

Third, the ol' give-shitter runs down. Spoons, baby. You run out of them. The effort of paying attention just isn't as bearable, depending on what else is melting your spoons down. Which applies to cleaning up after yourself as well. Which also means that remembering to behave better when you aren't at home where you're the person inconvenienced can be a problem.

Now, the answer to all of those is to sit the fuck down, but the folks now into their seventies and eighties had a much less free concept of masculinity. In other words, they were fed the unhealthy concept that doing things the way women do them is inherently unmasculine. That isn't true for everyone, but actual boomers, and the generation before them have more resistance to sitting down just because they're men. Boomers less so than their parents, as the actual baby boomers includes the very same people that fought to change such concepts.

You also have plain assholes, but that isn't a generation thing; there's assholes that will spray piss everywhere on purpose of all ages, so it isn't really a factor for this question.

Legit, I had patients back in the day that would resist sitting down to put on pants because they felt it made them lesser. Not less masculine, just less independent. They'd resist canes and walkers for the same reason, accelerating their reliance on mobility aids. That aspect of seat pissing is also a factor, but like just being an asshole, it isn't purely a generational thing. Plenty of young guys fight against anything other than standing to pee because being able to do so becomes a symbol of physical capability. If you have to sit to pee, you're fucked is the idea, no matter how false.

I had to lay down the law with my own dad a couple of years ago. Got tired of needing to use the toilet and sitting in piss, or walking in it, or seeing it drip. In his case, he didn't even realize he was missing, but he still didn't like the idea. He also got cataract surgery after that and it improved his aim back to an acceptable level when he does stand while peeing.

For real though my fellow men; sit to fucking pee. Splashing toilet water isn't a good thing, and that's going to happen no matter what else you do.

Their aiming is failing them. Fruit of the years. The older generations have that ingrained mindset that peeing is done standing, while younger people just reached the conclusion sitting down is cleaner and much more comfortable.

I'm listening to a podcast for about 10 years now. I still enjoy it, they are my age, and generally i find their opinions very agreeable. One thing that kinda shook me is how much they agree that as a man, you DO NOT sit and pee. It came two or more times and i find it one of the weirdest hill to die on. They went as far as saying that if they would visit one another and one would theoretically walk into someone taking a pee and they would sit there, it would probably change their whole relationship. A relationship that is being friends and business partners for like 20 years. It's not some Alpha male podcast, it's about video games and the hosts are 40 year old left leaning nerds.

If you really want to horrify yourself, try shining a UV torch around your bathroom.

Large numbers of men don't sit down. So if you're finding extra dirty toilets when old men are there, then there's something having to do with them being old, and not whether they stand up or sit down.

There are various answers that others have written, which are obviously going to be correct because there are various reasons.

    Yeah…they mostly don’t…

A lot of younger guys do for sure (usually after some awkward discussions with the other halve) but I’m not sure if you’ll get boomers to sit down ‘pee like a girl’.

I stand-peed all my life until I had to clean my own toilet. After a while I realized that sit-peeing reduced the need for cleaning by a few orders of magnitude.

So maybe, the boomers either never clean their bathrooms or they enjoy it?

I've complained about this, but I don't know if it is Bommers only. I've seen a lot of Gen Alpha with shy dicks as well.

I only have one boomer left in my life, but she's very respectful and wonderful, my mother in law. Entitled people will piss on the seat regardless of age though. You've got entitled boomers in your life.

Their bladder doesn't work as good because of their age. Their eyes aren't as good. Their brain isn't as good. They have more chronic pain. There is more dribbling of pee that occurs once they have finished peeing. Maybe they looked at the toilet seat and saw nothing but something leaked between checking the toilet and pulling their pants up. Some old people can't wear khakis because they would dribble pee through them.

  • You take a lot for granted when you have it. I once had to have a medical procedure done on my rectum and while I was in recovery it would leak. Nothing crazy, but I had to go clean up periodically. Really made me appreciate having full control over my downstairs region. Was not a fun time lol.

why do new generations pee all over other generations?

  • source
  • [–] 6 points 1 day ago*

Yeah I've noticed it. There's several reasons I think, some good and some bad:

    • upbringing

    • can't be bothered in their old age

    • losing eyesight causes them to miss seeing drops after the fact

    • wrinkly plumbing tends to make fountains instead of streams

    • can't bend to clean up, because of bad backs/legs

    • shaky hands and bad aim if very old

    • revenge for not cleaning up after your messes when much younger? 😂
