Hey now, I’m 41, and I think that detonating billionaires is a fine first step in societal reform. Don’t count out the middle-aged! We’re leftists too!

I think it's less about older=conservative but more about making the younger voting block something politicians have to cater to.

If you don't vote, they don't try to take your interests to heart as much as the people who do vote. Why bother catering to people who won't get you into office? It's wasted effort.

This is partially why you see people who talk about issues old people care more about, like social security, than things younger people care about, like how the fucking earth is on fire and if we don't fix it no one will have a planet anymore.

Vibes-Based Voting is how we got Trump in the first place.

If you have shit politics, please STAY THE FUCK HOME. I've had too many fucking Redcaps showing up in election booths for the last ten years, thank you very much.

People say I have shit politics because I want to abolish work, school, and the human concepts of “hours” and “minutes.” Should I still vote?

I’m also over 40 so between this and OP’s comment it would be pretty convincing.

    I’m also over 40

My interpretation wasn't "please don't vote if you're over 40"; it was that older people (sorry) statistically don't need to be convinced to vote nearly as much as younger people.

As in "hey, dipshits under 40", not "ho, ye enlightened under-40s!".

It wouldn’t help anyway. Even if I don’t vote I’ll still be subjected to the psychological abuse of political coverage every year.

Really I want to never hear from any of you ever again.

"Yes, we know you're European, but you will gobble American politics down your throat and you will like it!"

If we replaced First-past-the-post voting with something that let people transfer their votes if their preference didnt win, there wouldn't be a spoiler effect.

Then multiple parties could compete on who can beat the Republicans the best. Debates could be held even if Republicans dont show up.

These crucial reforms arent front and center in every blue state, so the democrats want the spoiler effect. Democrats want things this way. Democrats want people who are unrepresented by the two party system to remain unrepresented, right alongside the republicans. Both sides want the two party system to exist.

Unfortunately for the two mainstream political parties, the United States of America is more important then either of them. We will begin to heal when people get the chance to vote for who represents us best. Yall get to decide when that begins. Choose wisely.

Normally this is where I would link some videos on the flaws of FPTP voting, and on much more representative electoral alternatives. Those times have past us by.

    Good luck everyone.

The best part about the fall of the american empire is their news will eventually become irrelevant. British news was globally important the same as the US for a long time until their empire got old tired and bankrupt.

It’s chill I’ll just pretend the politics threads are NFL division meme war communities. Roughly the same if you substitute the nouns.

Social media? How about getting calls at the crack ass of dawn and multiple texts as well as garbage in the mail? I used to love this time of year, This is Halloween, but now it's phone on silent--hill. FFS I can't wait for it to stop. At least I know who to vote for; so and so is for socialistic policies, reject Komrade. Ugh sorry cousin, I will vote for Komrade and go bowling.

    Edit: They literally wrote Komrade
