Forcing wireless charging!

No physical buttons!

Requires an implant to use!

I appreciate wireless charging a ton, but I want an integrated dust cover for the USB port.

Sure, but it’s slower and less energy efficient. I get the convenience of just setting it down, but not having a data port has enshittification benefits I would bet.

I have to laugh every time I see a "wireless charger" plugged into the wall with a USB C cable powering the charger. It has to be one of the most absurd things I have seen.

Radio tuner was ripped away too. I miss being able to just tune into something when there was no data.

Ugh, I was just telling the youngins about the old phones with the IR blasters that let you control everything. Those were the days

Since S21 Ultra (depicted) Samsung took away:

    • Replaced the curved back panel with sharp corners that are uncomfortable to hold
    • Interesting colors because titanium is hard to paint
    • Oem unlocking to flash custom roms

And don't forget that they also took the small phones from us

They took away physical keyboards too.

2026 has been like a physical keyboard phone renaissance. For the first time in a while you've got options.

Offer me anything. Offer me money, offer me power, offer me everything I ask for.

I want my Nokia N900 back, you son of a bitch.

    Inability to delete bloat spyware

Constant telemetry that runs battery down in a day ( my phone goes for 4 or 5 days without charging. )

I miss the IR Blaster. What a convenient feature

I actually use the .5 zoom and 2x zoom camera a lot. Wouldn’t buy another phone without .5x

Curious what you use it for. I take close-up and far-away pictures all the time, both during my job and in my personal life and I don't think I've ever wanted a rear-camera image from further away than I was...

I do a lot of documentation. So taking pictures of rooms .5x vs 1x zoom makes a huge difference. Taking pictures of rack for example, you can’t get a good picture of an IDF rack at 1x zoom, you’ll have to take 2-3 shots. .5x zoom you can get the whole thing.

Headphone jack is when I started rioting. It may be five years before I'm free, but that IHOP will never be the same.

I shouldn’t have been allowed to have an IR blaster. No restaurant TV was safe.

They also took away our conversations. If you're really old you may remember how much better it was talking on a land-line. They call these phones but they suck at being phones.

  • In what way is a landline better for calls? Like I get that the culture around phone calls has changed, but that's not because of a failure or deficiency in the technology. I do remember landlines, and I don't personally share your romanticized nostalgia about talking on the phone, but if I have to make a call I'd definitely rather not be tethered to one place. What is it about landlines that you think is so much better for conversation?

They reduce your performance of existing devices ever so slightly with each update to increase desire for a new one.

I recently replaced a Pixel phone (battery issues) with a Samsung XCover7 Pro. Hated to go with Samsung (or Google for that matter), but the choice was 99% because of the XCover having a user swappable battery. It's ridiculous to have to replace a 3yr old phone because a nonreplaceable battery goes bad. Batteries die, need to be replaceable.

I recently disconnected my phone from my car's bluetooth because the experience was so awful, and I'm back to "iPod" mode over usb. Charging is slow, but almost every other experience is better. My wife's phone is still connected, and every once in a while I'll pull up to the house and immediately get the audio from her phone call that is going on inside the house transferred to the car.

Hole in screen is more screen with a hole. Alternative is less screen and no hole. I'd rather have the top with battery, time, wifi and a hole than lose the entire top .25 cm.

And most use those lenses. People don't think when they pinch zoom that the phone is automatically switching between lenses.

Alternative is less screen and no hole

Or no front camera at all, which sounds like the best solution to me.

And meh, just give me one camera for some simple photos. No matter how many cameras they add, in my price class they all suck donkey balls anyway.

Funny how apple both steals 3-10 year old features from android and "invents" them, while also ringing the death nell for features on android phones 1-2 years after apple removes them.

I don't want bezelless touch screens, I need somewhere to grip and give me back the bottom screen buttons so I can wake my phone up without having to pick it up

  • Only a couple phones had the IR blaster. One I had was the worst Android phone I owned.

Mainly an iPhone/Mac guy, but I also have a Galaxy S10. Headphone jack, check. Memory card slot, check. 5.8”. Screen looks better than that of my iPhone 16 Pro Max, and it’s way lighter. Keyboard works better too. It’s only LTE but I don’t have service on it — WiFi only. Battery sucks for obvious reasons. Solid phone though. Only thing I don’t care for, Samsung cameras aren’t great. So I shoot with the iPhone.
