Idk man, I've always looked way younger than my age when shaved, but not that extreme. Skin care or not, I would not want to look like that at 34.

That's Pierce Brosnan, famous for his role as Mister Doubtfire and the voice of Genie in Aladdin
Wow they look like two completely different people
Crazy how nature do that.
But, you can only tell that because one used sunscreen, and one didn't. Otherwise they'd look exactly identical. /s
The difference is 1 part genetics, 1 part skin care routines, 1 part sun protection habits, 7 parts a lifetime with or without smoking and being surrounded by people smoking at nearly all times.
You forgot "1 part warlock's curse"
I mean, the boy man literally looks 13!
It's like Stephen King's Thinner, but with visual age rather than weight.
Sean Connery also wore a toupée ever since he was in his 20s. Dude went bald early and hid it from the world until he was an old man.
I wonder if it is also differing beauty standards. Older men used to be considered more sexy. Nowadays a guy over 40 is basically a corpse but if you watch old movies you’ll see guys who look 50 or even 60 in hero roles, and they get the girl, too.
So what I’m saying is, Sean Connery might never be chosen as a leading actor today because he looks too old.

Sean is always cool, but I wonder how Thomas would look had he been smoking a pack a day for 20 years too.
Is this really it? I thought the non smoking would be compensated by the increased pollution of everything
I'm sure sun exposure also plays a role, everyone wears SPF 8000 sunblock now, while they were putting on tanning oil back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s
Really? I thought sunblock was pretty over the top in Connery's day.

Air pollution was worse in the last century https://ourworldindata.org/outdoor-air-pollution
Pollution was worse back then, look up smog in the 70s. We've introduced catalytic converters, emissions standards, etc. Most people now question why we need clean air laws because we have clean air, much like people thinking we don't need vaccines because those diseases aren't around.
There's significantly less air and water pollution now than the past, with the only exception being microplastics. We haven't found many short-term impacts from that yet, though
https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/07/un-expert-human-rights-climate-crisis-economy
An estimated 7 million people worldwide die prematurely from air pollution each year.
In his final interview before handing over the special rapporteur mandate, Boyd said he struggles to makes sense of the world’s collective indifference to the suffering being caused by preventable environmental harms.
I can’t get people to bat an eyelash. It’s like there’s something wrong with our brains that we can’t understand just how grave this situation is.”
Pollution was probably another contributing factor; I'd be surprised if it wasn't a lot worse in the 60s than it is now: a lot of environmental controls got put in place in the intervening decades. Remember, there was leaded gasoline everywhere, and acid rain scares and the ozone layer depletion in the 80s.
It's funny that culturally 34 was considered a middle aged man back then whereas 34 today feels like an old 20 something.
You made my entire week and added spring in my step, I just hope it won't ruin my knees.
The one on the right is also married to Elon Musk's twice divorce ex-wife. As in the wife married Elon, divorced him, married Elon again, divorced him, then marred the guy on the right.
What did she mar him with, some sort of edged weapon?
The difference would be even more striking if Sean Connery wasn't wearing a hairpiece
Smoking, alcohol, no sunscreen will still age up a person of today by 10 years.
I think also one of them probably had an easier path:
Sean Connery's father was Joseph Connery, a factory worker and lorry driver.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster was the actor and performer, Mark Sangster.
Some people used to be born old. That's just how the world worked. Also, stupid fashion. Have you seen a photo of a woman college student in the 80s? They look 40.
Thomas is like a genetically engineered femboy for Hollywood billionaires.
No need to go out and molest nubile young boys in the Caribbean, this bad boy is of legal age and doesn't look a day past 15.
Like a human version of a toy dog, but with a genetically superior bussy.
Brodie-Sangster is also like preternaturally youthful looking. 1999 Kyle Chandler in Early Edition at age 34 sort of splits the difference, and Jesse Plemons at 36-38, after he lost some weight, is closing in on Connery levels of character in his face.
Wait is perpetual teen guy going to be a bond?
No, Mr Bond, I expect you to be home before dark!
How will Bond stop the laser satellite launch when its scheduled at midnight, more than two hours past his bedtime?
Tinfoil hat: The billionaires are all pedos so they make products to make everyone look like children longer so they have more options. The dude on the right legit looks like a child.
65 and 12.
Before reading the title i was like "wonder what happened to that kid?". Lo and behold, mf is older than me and, on second glance, I prolly look older than Connery.

Here his is in dr no a year later looking more like he's 40 instead of 55, given he's in makup, but the crows-feet smile lines aren't doing him any favors.
and here he is 7 years later in 71 (41 years old) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Connery#/media/File:Sean_Connery_as_James_Bond_(1971).jpg
TBH, the effect on skin from smoking seem to hit like a truck in the 40's, that's gotta be severe tanning, smoking and some really rough genetics.
"Leaded gas vs Unleaded gas" was my initial thought.
But then I remembered instagram filters.
These pictures are due to two things; genetics and lighting. Even though dude on right looks younger generally, if he was photographed in the same light as Connery they would look much closer in age.
