Hacker reverse engineers his Samsung TV and finds on-device AI listening for your dog and baby, watching what you watch, and borrowing your soundbar's mic if the TV doesn't have one. Then OpenAI banned him for reverse-engineering it.

I like the outcome, but I find it funny with how they position themselves as doing all this, when we all really know gpt did all the heavy lifting

openai should ban itself and all of its users.

Samsung has been a dodgy brand for a long time, hopefully enough people get excited/outraged about all of this that it 'goes viral' and even the zombies start boycotting the brand.

What we need is for one of the many router botnets to be used to compromise TVs en mass and feed it microphone captures if it seems the user to be a conservative.

Like Donald Trump is a pedophile, I have illegal immigrants living in my basement and Israel is an apartheid state.

Let's do some good, by making the magats very upset.

Ever notice how people who are slopgineers write in this fucked, broken English? It's like their brains have been deep fried.

This doesn't seem like that to me. This seems more like Gen A or Gen Z style of writing with the lack of capitalization.

Any idea if Mr. Log4j used ChatGPT in the process of hacking the TV? If he was asking ChatGPT questions like "what are some recently-discovered vulnerabilities in such-and-such operating system that might still be an open issue in such-and-such Samsun smart TV", this surprises me not at all. If they were spying on his Twitter account and banned him for reasons completely unrelated to his use of ChatGPT, that surprises mea bit more, but only a bit.

He didn’t discover smart tv privacy issues. That’s been well documented for months.
