With data centers full of RAM, your PC is apparently the problem.

C'mon guys, the way you use your ovens is like really inefficient.

Stop buying ovens, let us buy all the ovens. Then whenever you need to cook something come get it from my restaurant instead.

We should make looting data centers a religion.

Good job, Lemmy. We all had this end game nailed down well before he admitted it.

I think it's terrible that there's a tree out there producing air that this bastard is wasting.

Don't worry, he's working on a method of bottling and distributing air for purchase, so that you can have fresh air in your home or community!

He's partnered with Aloysius O'Hare on it.

(This is a joke. It's a reference to The Lorax by Dr. Seuss)

Is it terrible then that I have a kitchen instead of buying all my food from McDonald's?

These AI CEOs are all so out of touch. They talk like they believe everyone lives in a mansion in can Fransisco with 1000gb/s Internet connection 24/7 and zero down time.

If I had to rely on off-site RAM I would be screwed so so often.

Yeah, what he's saying is completely unreasonable on its face. Data centers have an average utilization of 12-15% according to IBM, and there's 500 billion USDs of unused GPUs in warehouses.

However most people don't fucking know that. Sam "I fucked my sister" Altman shouldn't get a voice at all.

CPU capabilities are more powerful today than ever. They think it's terrible that you have that power without getting it through them.

Is this guy mentally ill or something or has too much money and publicity gone to his head? Saying people don't need RAM in computers? I mean, if he's got a better and cheaper solution, then bring it to the world stage - maybe it could actually benefit humanity, who knows. But if you don't stop spewing nonsense just for publicity, media attention, and a stock market boost...

Money can't buy brain cells, so you don't need to worry about losing any.

    And

Water is wet, so you don't need to drink it.

It’s about endgame, which holds so much real estate in his head it likely did not occur to him to say anything but the truth on this.

You will own nothing and like it.

Basically, you spend more earnings on yet another monthly payment to have these assholes do your heavy computing tasks for you. More wealth siphon from poor to rich. More monitoring, less privacy. And most of all, remove the possibility of your own home bred AIs on your machines.

End game with data centers is to end home computing.

640kb should be enough for everybody! You greedy people having the choice among 8gb PCs today (nvm you could afford 32gb as standard a year ago) are just spoiled traitors.

He's not wrong, just completely fucking tonedeaf.

Ok, yea, sure, from a resource allocation perspective, it does make the most sense to centralize power. Having one giant system running at 80% is more efficient than having a thousand small systems running at 20%. This is why we virtualize servers.

The problem is, we want and need our RAM for more things than having conversations with your "brain"-washed hallucinating spy-bots.
